Chapter 174
Simon never expected the shareholders of Refined Threads Co. to turn against him so suddenly. What the hell was so great about Janice?
Fueled by jealousy, he snapped, "You people have done nothing! You just throw in some money and sit back while I do all the work! Refined Threads Co. is where it is today because of me! What have you even contributed? What right do you have to criticize me?"
The moment those words left his mouth, Britney slammed her hand on the table.
"Simon, get this straight! We're shareholders-investors! Do you even understand what that means? If we're running the company and investing money, then what the hell do we need you for?"
Sabrina scoffed. "Since Janice left, Refined Threads Co. has been going downhill. And you still haven't stopped to reflect on what went wrong?"
Tabitha added coldly, "You have one week. If you're still here when we return, we're pulling our investment."
With that, the three shareholders stood up and walked out, not even bothering to hide their disgust.
Furious, Simon grabbed an ashtray and hurled it onto the tiled floor. It shattered right next to Alex, who had just stepped in. The flying shards left cuts on the exposed skin of his feet.
"And what the hell are you standing there for?" Simon snapped, immediately turning his fury on him.
Alex swallowed hard. "Mr. Fitzgerald, about the crochet design that Ms. Ryan sent over... The Product Division rejected it. They asked me to check if maybe she sent the wrong one."
In reality, what the Product Division had said was the skill level was barely above average.
It didn't stand a chance of winning an award, let alone be considered a high-end piece.
Some of them had even mocked Simon's taste, saying, "His selections are a joke compared to Ms. Smith's."
"What?" Simon's expression darkened.
"If they think they can do better, they're welcome to take over! Otherwise, they should shut the hell up and do their damn jobs! I've given them multiple crochet designs, and none of them passed. What's their problem? And you you have a mouth, don't you?
"Why didn't you explain it to them? You can't even handle something this simple, so what the hell am I even paying you for?"
Alex clutched the folder of crochet design samples and kept his head low, not daring to respond.
Simon's rage boiled over. "I'm talking to you! Are you deaf, or did you drop dead?"
The next second, Alex suddenly lifted his head and snapped back, "Then go do it yourself!"
Simon froze. He never expected his meek, obedient secretary to actually fight back.
"So, it's my fault they rejected the
designs?ts it my fault your selections don't pass? Why don't you blame yourself for being incompetent and for failing to be as capable as Ms. Smith?"
With that, Alex threw the crochet design samples onto the desk.
Simon yanked at his tie, his expression dark. "You don't want this job anymore, do you?"
"That's right!" Alex cursed out loud. "I'm done! Screw this! If someone wants to be your damn babysitter, let them! I quit! Pay me what I'm owed and I'm out!"
As he reached the office door, Alex suddenly turned back. And then, he finally said what he'd been holding in for a long time.
"You know what? You're just a useless, rage-filled idiot! You can't solve a single damn problem! All you do is make things worse!"
His words shattered what was left of Simon's pride.
So, this was how everyone saw him? That he had only ridden on Janice's success all these years? That he was a complete failure?
No way!
They were just bitter because they were leaving! They were just trying to provoke him!
He was still the chairman of Refined Threads Co.! Didn't people still respect him?
Shaking with fury, Simon grabbed his phone and dialed Heidi. "Ms. Olson, the shareholders are trying to kick me out! They want to make Janice the chairperson! What do I do?"
"What do you want me to do? That's
your problem. So what if you're no
longer chairman? Once Janice
Vel
completely ruins herself at the
international championship, thosenoveldrama
shareholders will have no choice but
torely on you again."
Hearing that, Simon felt a little more at ease. But then, another thought crossed
his mind.
"Ms. Olson, my company's Product
Division rejected your crochet
design again. Can't you just give me
In
some actual high-quality ones?
We've known each other for a
time. You don't need to hold back on me, right?"
Hold back?
What do you think?
