Chapter 195
"Adam, I think I've made a terrible mistake," Amelia murmured.
But all she had wanted was to survive.
Now that she had done what she needed to do, a sudden lightness washed over her as if all the pressure on her had vanished at once. But as the pressure faded, her thoughts turned to Elsie-that bitch.
How dare she try to take Amelia's place and claim what Amelia herself had failed to achieve?
Amelia ended the call with Adam and headed to the bathroom for a shower.
She only contracted HIV because she had once loved someone enough to follow him abroad. She had sacrificed her pride and dignity to cook and care for him. But from the start, she had only been his prey.
That was how she knew exactly how to make Janice lose all hope. Amelia knew how it felt when a man turned his back, denying everything she had ever done for him. It was a pain that cut deep, like having her heart carved out with a knife.
So, Simon wasn't innocent either, right?
The following morning, Simon woke up with a pounding headache. He was neatly dressed, aside from a few wrinkles.
The alcohol from last night had really hit hard. But strangely, he had still managed to dream-and not just any dream but that kind of dream.
Simon prided himself on not being swayed by lust. For him, a woman's value lay in what she could offer, not her looks.
After washing up, he felt hungry and headed to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. He planned to contact Heidi afterward.
She had reached out two nights ago, saying they'd watch the competition together. He hadn't bothered asking what had happened between Edward and Janice. The worse things got for them, the better.
As Simon exited his room, he ran into Elsie, who was on her way to find him.
She was dressed coquettishly, with a white coat draped over a black knit dress that clung to her hips. She
paired it with sheer black stockings.
The cut-out design at her waist gave glimpses of her skin, teasing just enough to draw the eye.
After the dream he'd had last night, Simon averted his eyes when he saw Elsie.
She smiled and linked her arm with his. "What's wrong?"
Yesterday, she had planned to find Simon. But Helena intercepted her and insisted that Elsie give her a massage, ruining her chance of meeting him alone that night
He instinctively avoided her arm and headed for the elevator. "Aren't you cold dressed like that?"noveldrama
Elsie's lashes fluttered at his reaction, and disbelief flashed in her eyes. But she quickly shook it off and slipped into the elevator beside him.
Simon and Elsie spotted Amelia sitting alone at the hotel restaurant, quietly eating breakfast.
She wore a soft gray turtleneck sweater and white pants, her long hair tied back in a loose bun. A pair of pearl earrings adorned her ears and her makeup was minimal. She just had a touch of color on her lips. There was a quiet elegance about her, a sense of calm that felt almost timeless.
Simon couldn't help but glance at Elsie. In contrast to Amelia, he felt that Elsie was too ostentatious.
He walked over to Amelia. "Amelia, why are you eating alone?"
Behind him, Elsie gritted her teeth. She was sure Amelia was intentionally standing in her way.
That wretched bitch! Why couldn't she just drop dead instead of getting in her way?
What do you think?
