Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 290

Janice's eyelashes fluttered as she looked at Edward. "Do you know what marriage means?"

"It means I'll spend the rest of my life with the woman in front of me. For better or worse, it'll always be you. No matter how rough things get, I'll be there to protect you. And I'm ready for that."

His honesty caught her off guard and left her momentarily speechless. "I... I don't believe you've never dated before," she said

"Why not?" Edward straightened up. "I have high standards."

Janice raised an eyebrow.

"I don't settle for just anyone."

She didn't know how to respond to that.

Edward kept his face straight. "I mean it."

"Okay." Janice cleared her throat. "You've got the looks, the career, the

background. Of course, you mean it."

Edward smiled and lightly pinched her earlobe. After a few seconds of silence, he said softly, "That's why I like you."

Her face flushed instantly. "Go away! I'm going to sleep."

She was exhausted. The past few days had worn her down.

Edward waited until Janice lay down before leaving the bedroom. As soon as he stepped into the living room, he noticed Barbara standing there with a scrutinizing look. "What's wrong, Mom?"

She crossed her arms. "I heard you're learning to crochet."

"Yeah."noveldrama

Barbara raised a brow. "Why?"

"To make a wedding gown."

A wedding gown... Her eyes lit up. "You're getting married? When? 10 need to start planning. Janice- deserves a grand wedding. With her public presence, it can't be anything ordinary."

"That's not even set in motion yet."

Edward hadn't even proposed yet.

Not that he didn't want to-it justet

didn't seem like the right time. Everyone was busy, and marriage

wasn't exactly a priority right now.

"You'd better hurry up," Barbara warned. "I've noticed a lot of people have their

eyes on Janice. If someone snatches her away..."

He lit a cigarette. "If anyone tries, they're dead."

She gaped at him. "Stop talking nonsense."

Edward smiled faintly. "I'm serious."

Who would dare to snatch Janice from him? Whether it was Simon or Janice herself, they'd have to face the consequences.

Edward shared the same temperament as his father, Robert.

While Robert had learned to suppress his more ruthless tendencies after years in politics, Edward hadn't. He was bold and fearless-as long as no one crossed his line.

And yet, there were always those who foolishly tested his limits—like Simon, standing stubbornly at the gated community entrance.

When Marie arrived, she saw Simon sitting on the edge of a flower bed near the gated community entrance. He was holding a bouquet of roses and gazing into the distance with a longing look. She walked over in her high heels.

He frowned. "I'm not selling flowers."

He thought she was a customer.

Marie lowered her gaze. "Don't recognize me?"

Simon finally looked up and studied her face. "Marie?"
