Chapter 1748
Chapter 1748:
At the Wallace residence, Hazel sat in the living room, her anxiety palpable.
“Honey, why are you sitting here in such thin clothes? You might catch a cold,” Eloise said as she approached, draping a blanket over Hazel’s shoulders. Her voice took on a harsh tone.
“The audacity of that woman slapping you. Tomorrow, I’ll go to the school and demand justice. We’ll make the Swain family beg for mercy!”
“Thank you. Mom, you’re the best,” Hazel responded, embracing Eloise. Her words were sweet, but her eyes betrayed a ruthless intent. Beg for mercy? She wanted more than that—she wished for all of Sunnydale to suffer.
Hazel’s father, Emanuel Wallace, joined them.
“Honey, tell me about the woman supporting the Swain family. It won’t just be the Swain family paying the price for this!”
A calculating look crossed Hazel’s face. At the mere mention of the Sandersons in Baythom, even Michael hadn’t dared challenge Harlee. Knowing better, Hazel kept the full truth from her father.
“I’m not sure,” Hazel replied, shaking her head. She took Eloise’s hand as she said to Emanuel, “Dad, that woman appeared out of nowhere and seemed close to Virginia. Maybe she’s related to Virginia…”
“Don’t worry about it,” Emanuel assured her, waving his hand dismissively.
“I’ll have someone uncover her identity and bring her here so you can have your revenge.”
His indifference suggested that human life was merely a plaything for his daughter’s whims.

Hazel was used to this. Ever since she was young, her father had dealt with anyone who upset her by letting her exact revenge however she saw fit. Eloise, however, worried this would spoil Hazel and complicate her future marriage to the Sampson family.
Eloise cautioned, “Honey, remember, you must always present yourself as a refined lady, especially in front of Michael. Ignore your father’s methods. He’s too quick to resort to violence.”
“If Virginia hadn’t pushed me so far, I wouldn’t have resorted to this.”
Hazel continued to play the victim.
“Mom, you know I don’t want to be enemies with Virginia or anyone else.”
Hazel held back a smug smile. Since she had plunged the whole of Sunnydale into chaos, all she had to do now was watch the unfolding news on TV.
“Good girl,” Eloise murmured, patting Hazel’s head, though her mind was elsewhere.noveldrama
Eloise was acutely aware of her daughter’s tactics. She knew without needing to investigate that the destruction of Sunnydale was Hazel’s doing, and now, she pondered the cleanup.
Eloise herself had not been initially accepted by the Wallace family. She had maneuvered her way in as a friend, surviving the deaths of Emanuel’s parents before officially becoming his wife. Her cunning was, arguably, greater than Hazel’s. Tonight, without Eloise’s covert aid, Hazel wouldn’t have secured a loyal arsonist to carry out her plots.
The next morning, law enforcement officers arrived at the Wallace family’s residence.
“Mr. Wallace, I’ve heard quite a bit about you.”
Emanuel reached out his hand, attempting to make a connection with the officer, Zavier Estrada, standing before him.
“I’m curious what brings you and your team to my house today.”
Emanuel was careful in his actions and, naturally, didn’t believe he would be caught for his wrongdoings.
“We have allegations against you concerning tax evasion and murder. We need you to come with us,” Zavier said plainly.
Emanuel’s face paled slightly.
“Mr. Estrada, I assure you, I conduct all my business lawfully. There must be a misunderstanding here.”
