Don't Poke the Luna (Xena and Ryder)

Xena's POV

My hands were shaking. This was crazy. Opening the package, I sat down, peed on the test strip, then turned it over and put the cap on. My legs were trembling when I finished, and I washed my hands. Two minutes hadn't passed yet, but I was already out of patience. I quickly picked it up and flipped it over before I could convince myself not to look. There was one deep line and a second lighter line. After checking the box, this meant positive.

Positive. I was pregnant. Really pregnant. Oh my God, was this real? I stared at those two lines as if they would disappear. But they were still there, clear and real.

For a moment, countless emotions surged through me. Fear, excitement, overwhelm... but strangely, I wasn't afraid. Thinking about Ryder's reaction, thinking about how happy he would be, my heart was about to explode. We were going to have a baby. We were going to become parents.

My hand was trembling, one hand covering my mouth, the other holding the test.

Countless thoughts flashed through my mind. I wanted to surprise Ryder, but I didn't think I could keep this secret. Everything inside me was burning, wanting to run out and tell him. I wasn't even scared. Knowing he would be thrilled was the best thing I could ask for.

I should plan some special way to tell him, but I couldn't do it. I was never good at keeping secrets, especially secrets like this. I wanted to tell him right now and see the expression on his face.

I stuffed it in my pocket and walked toward Ryder. He was leaning against the railing, looking at the city below. "I was just about to come find you," he said, pulling me in front of him. His head rested against me, his arms wrapped around me, and we looked at the city together.

"How are you feeling?" I asked him.

“Happy..... sad..... overwhelmed, I'm not ready to bury my parents, but I'm more afraid of losing you."

I turned to face him. "You'll never lose me. I'll fight anyone to get back to you." "When did you become so gentle?" Ryder teased.

"I'm not gentle. Just don't mess with my stuff." Ryder grabbed my thighs and lifted me up to sit on the railing. His hands slid under my skirt and around my hips. The pregnancy test fell out of my pocket and dropped to the ground.

Damn! This wasn't how I planned to do this!

What's that?" Ryder asked, looking down.

"Damn!" I groaned. Ryder bent down to pick it up. "This isn't how I wanted to tell you."

My heart was beating so fast I was worried it would jump out of my chest. This moment had finally come. No carefully planned surprise, no romantic scene, it just happened. Maybe this was better. Maybe this was our way unexpected, real, perfectly imperfect.

I felt Ryder's body stiffen. One of his hands was still on my hip, but the other was looking at those two pink lines. "This is a pregnancy test."

"Yes. I just took it in the bathroom."

Now there was no going back. I watched his expression, waiting for his reaction. I knew he wanted this, but seeing the test and imagining it were different things. This was real. This was happening. We were going to become parents.

"This means positive," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Correct. We are pregnant." I said as I waited for him to absorb the information.

"You are carrying my child?" He looked at me, begging me to tell him this wasn't a joke." Seriously?"

"I'm serious. I'm pregnant and you are going to be a dad." Ryder looked at me for a minute before he smashed his lips against mine. His heart exploded in happiness to the point it brought tears to my eyes. The way his arms held me tightly yet passionately was something I wasn't ready for.

"What...how did.... why didn't..." Ryder was stumbling over his words as he looked down at the test.

"I honestly thought it was going to be negative.

I don't have any symptoms or signs. I'm honestly not even late yet, my period isn't due for two more days. I just had this nagging feeling that I shouldn't drink tonight. Couple that with our lack of being protective, I just figured why not."

"I can't believe this." Ryder got down on his knee and put his face to my stomach. "Hey little one.

This is your daddy. You are already so loved."

Threading my hands through his hair, I just watched him process the news. After awhile of him just resting his head on my lap, he stood up. “I'm glad you are happy."

"Are you okay with this?" He asked me as he wrapped his arms around me again.

I kept my legs open so he could slip between them..

Hooking my ankles together, he picked me up and walked me into the livingroom. Depositing me on the couch, Ryder laid beside me.

"What do you mean?" I started kissing his neck and ear.

"Are you ready for a baby? You have been so hesitant on wanting one." Hls hand ran down my thigh to my

The danger is over. I was worried about being pregnant and something happen and I would lose the baby.

I didn't want to my pregnancy at risk like that." I tried to keep the graphics out of my words.

I'll treat you like the princess you are." Ryder grumbled as I found my mark and sucked on it.

Ryder moved to straddle me. Lifting my dress, he pulled it off of me and tossed it on the floor.

However, he didn't start pounding away like I wanted. Instead, he held my hands down as he worshiped my body. Kissing every inch of skin from my neck, to my breast and down to my thighs.
