Ex Cried as I Wed a Tycoon

Chapter 498

Suzan thought Shepard's expression was a little odd, but she kept her patience

and explained, "No, she hasn't been producing or selling it. She only gave some to Mitchell's mother, Adeline, for her own use."

Only then did Shepard finally relax.

Suzan ventured, "Dad, is something wrong?"

Shepard shook his head. "No, nothing's wrong."

Once Suzan skipped out of the room in high spirits, Vera turned to Shepard. "Honey, do you think that snake, Adriana Spencer, is holding something back?"

Shepard's face tightened, and he nodded. "That's exactly what I'm thinking. You know, the whole reason I've always sold just the raw ingredients and never the finished product is because we never had a good formula. Rather than wasting time on blind trial and error, I wanted to focus on making the best product possible. Now, after so much experimentation, we've tried to reconstruct the whole formula, run all these tests, and yet the results still aren't as good as I expected..."

Vera patted his hand in encouragement. "Don't worry. Your product is already excellent. I can guarantee you there's nothing on the market that even comes close to this."

Back in college, Vera and Adriana had been classmates. Whatever Adriana knew, Vera knew a little, too.

Shepard trusted Vera's words completely.

"If it weren't for you, I probably wouldn't have managed to finish this batch so quickly," he admitted.

Vera smiled at him. "Of course I'd help you. We're in this together, for better or worse. If you succeed, I succeed."

Shepard nodded, grinning. "You're the best."

He looked at Vera, who was as radiant as ever, and toyed with her soft, fair hand -his thoughts drifting somewhere far less innocent...

Fidelia Etheridge had somehow heard about Effie's twisted ankle and stopped by to check on her When she saw Effie was perfectly find she immediately dragged her off for a shopping spree.

"Why's there such a massive line here today?" Effie asked, eyeing the long queue outside the designer pop-up store.

Fidelia replied, "There's a new collection dropping today."

Effie shot her a sideways glance. "So, you used the excuse of checking on me just to get me to line up for these blind boxes with you?"

Fidelia grinned sheepishly. "Come on, you have your brother's platinum card. We can skip the line! That's why I thought..."

But when Fidelia led Effie up to the entrance and asked, the staff told them that since it was launch day, not even a global VIP card could get them to the front.

Fidelia had no choice but to obediently join the end of the line.noveldrama

Effie shrugged. "It's just a marketing gimmick. You could come back tomorrow and they'll still have plenty."

Fidelia shook her head. "It's not the same! Some people get it on day one-why should I have to wait till day two? Look at me I'm so anxious

Fidelia eyed the plain, unmarked jar suspiciously. "What brand is this? Is it safe? Does it actually work?"

She fired off questions in quick succession—after all, you don't take chances with your face. The last thing she wanted was to turn into a walking disaster.
