Game Over No Second Chances

Serena slept soundly after a tipsy night and all the chaos.

Hugh was already gone when she woke up. A light blanket was draped over her, and the tilted canopy above blocked out most of the sunlight.

She sat up after stretching lazily. However, she didn't see anyone else around the island.

A maid approached respectfully with a towel and a drink, saying, "Mr. Larson was called away by Mr. Larson Senior. He instructed us to stay nearby and assist you with anything you need."

"Thanks." Serena took the damp towel and wiped her face. She looked around in confusion.

"It's already afternoon. Why does it feel like no one's here? Is this Mr. Larson's private island?"

The maid remained silent. Strictly speaking, it wasn't originally private until Serena was here.

However, Chandler had instructed not to make her feel pressured. So the maid simply said, "Mr. Larson and you are resting here. The guests understand and naturally wouldn't intrude."

Serena didn't think much of it.

With Hugh gone, staying alone on the island felt a little boring. She was just about to ask if her room had been cleaned so she could change, do her makeup, and take some photos when her phone rang at the worst possible time.

Howard's anxious voice came through.

"Get back here right away! We need to discuss Sarah's engagement to Cole!"

"Dad, I thought you saw me as a traitor. So now you want me to help? I'm not going!"

Serena was about to hang up when Howard's voice rose sharply.

"Mr. Larson Senior refuses to see us! He'll only let you pass on the message! If you don't come back, what will happen to Sarah's engagement? My dear Nina, everything between Sarah and Cole is already set in stone.noveldrama

"We just need you to show up and smooth things. over. If you help me handle this, let you focus on Amber Group in peace. I won't

bother you unless it's urgent."

That finally caught her attention. If Howard left her alone, she could really put her

energy into managing Amber Group properly.

"Ten minutes." She hung up and boarded the yacht back.

The Jansens were staying in a villa suite. It consisted of two bedrooms and a

living room, just enough space for the three of them.

As soon as Serena walked through the door, Howard grabbed her and bombarded her with all the details about the engagement party.

She jotted down a few points in her mind.

Just as she was about to leave, Howard grabbed her arm again.

"I heard Hugh closed off the entire island just so you could sleep peacefully. Even

the yachts to nearby islands had to detour by five minutes. Is that true?"

Howard beamed, his smile gentle. With Sarah marrying into the Larsons and Serena clearly favored, he couldn't have been prouder.

The maid's explanation earlier had sounded more reliable. Serena would rather trust the straightforward maid than her exaggerating father.

It made more sense that no one dared disturb Hugh. After all, with how unpredictable he was, it was

hard to imagine to such

lengths for just an ally

Serena shook her head.

"I was asleep. I don't know anything about that. If there's nothing else, I'll be..."

"Come on, We're family. Since you're

already here, stay for lunch. Later, Rachel and I will visit Cole's parents. In the meantime, Help Sarah pick out few color palettes for the

engagement. We'll need them soon."

Howard clung to her insistently, promising to also let Natalie spend more time

helping out at Amber Group.
