Chapter 339
Mandy's lips curled into a warm smile as she said, "Allison, you really didn't have to do that. It's so thoughtful of you."
"As long as the little one likes it."
Even though Mandy had invited her to dinner to show her gratitude, Allison felt it would be a bit rude to show up empty-handed, so she picked up a pair of sparkly pink hair clips.
Little girls just adored those kinds of hair clips.
"Come on, Allison, let me show you upstairs," Mandy said with a grin.noveldrama
"Alright."
The private room was on the third floor, and Allison followed Mandy into the elevator.
As the elevator doors slid shut, Julia, clutching the hair clips, looked up at Mandy and said, "Mommy, can you help me put them on?"
"Oh, you cheeky little thing."
Mandy chuckled, a bit exasperated, as she took the clips and fastened them on either side of Julia's head.
"They look adorable," Allison complimented.
Mandy replied, "Thanks so much, Allison."
"Don't mention it."
Before they knew it, the elevator had reached the third floor.
Mandy led Allison to the private room.
As the door swung open, Allison stopped for a moment, surprised to see who was inside.
Four people were already seated.
Watson stood up and greeted her with a friendly smile, "Good evening, partner."
Mandy playfully added, "Why so formal? We're all friends here. Just call her Allie it sounds much nicer."
Turning to Allison, Mandy explained, "Watson was around the area for work and hadn't eaten yet, so I invited him over. Hope that's okay with you, Allison?"
Allison nodded, "Not a problem at all."
Besides Watson, there was a kindly-looking elderly couple and a middle-aged man in a sharp suit.
"Hello, Ms. Allison. I'm Fred, Julia's dad. Thank you so much for helping us find her when she wandered off," the man said, coming over to greet her.
Allison immediately understood.
So, he was Mandy's husband, Julia's dad, and Watson's uncle by marriage.
Allison replied politely, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Shawn."
After Fred spoke, the older gentleman, brimming with gratitude, added Allison, we truly can't thank you enough. Without you our little Julia might have been snatched by kidnappers."
Judging by their age, the elderly folks were likely Watson's grandparents.
Allison said, "You're very kind, sir. It was the least I could do."
"Please, Allison, don't just stand there. Have a seat," Watson's grandfather invited with a hearty smile.
"Sure." Allison pulled out a chair and took a seat.
The table in the room was large, set for ten.
Including little Julia, there were seven of them, leaving three empty chairs.
Both sides of Allison were free.
Mandy shot Watson a look, hinting for him to move and sit next to Allison.
Watson shook his head slightly, looking a bit amused.
Allison noticed the playful exchange and turned to ask, "What's going on, Watson?"
Among their lawyer circle, they were used to addressing each other this way.
Watson adjusted his glasses and
said, "Oh, nothing. My aunt just
thought it would be more convenient to talk shop if we sat together.
thought so too. Hope you don't
mind, Allison?"
Allison smiled and replied, "With such a dedicated partner like Watsonld be glad to sit next to him I wouldn't mind at all ve been wanting to chat about some parts of the Helix Sciences case with you."
Watson got up and moved to sit beside Allison, "Alright, let's catch up."
Mandy watched them with a fond smile, her eyes twinkling with happiness, as she quietly murmured to herself, "They make such a perfect pair."
What do you think?
