Chapter 740
Afraid that if he let go, she'd vanish into thin air.
"Just being alive is all that matters."
"Casper, have you seen my phone? I bet everyone at work is losing their minds."
So many people had been affected. Friends and family alike were probably worried sick. There was still a mountain of things to sort out.
"Your phone's likely busted. I asked Dillon to grab you a new one."
Once the new phone was in hand, Eliza switched over her number. As soon as she powered it up, messages poured in like a tidal wave, one after another. Some were from colleagues, others from business partners, and there were plenty of concerned notes from Gabe too. She figured everyone must've caught the news.
Clutching her phone, Eliza calmly tackled everything that had happened. Surviving this ordeal made the meaning of life shine even brighter for her.
Finally, she called Gabe back. His first words, much like Casper's, were filled with shock and relief, "You're alive? Thank goodness, that's amazing."
"Just lucky, I guess." Given how many hadn't made it, she wasn't about to boast, "The accident came out of nowhere, left everyone scrambling."
There was a noticeable sigh of relief on the other end. His breathing slowly steadied, "Just knowing you're alive is enough. I've been trying to reach you, and I'm on my way over now."
This brand showcase wasn't related to Gabe's company at all. His presence wouldn't really make a difference.
"The roads to Summer Village are closed, no need for you to come."
"Alright," he said softly. But his foot stayed firm on the gas pedal, and he didn't change course.
Eliza hung up, tiredly leaning back in her chair and closing her eyes.
Casper came over, scooped her up, and gently laid her on the big bed. "Don't worry about a thing. I'll have Dillon help you handle the aftermath. What you need most right now is to rest, to get some sleep."
His tenderness was something else entirely.
Eliza reached out and looped her arms around his neck, "Stay with me, will you?"
"Of course."
She rested her head on his chest, feeling a peace she'd never known. His large hand softly stroked her hair, gentle and soothing.
"Casper, if I had really died, how long would you wait before marrying someone else?" Her delicate fingers lightly tapped on his chest.
He didn't think of it as a joke. He hadn't planned on marrying again.noveldrama
"If you had died, I'd hold on to our memories and take care of our two boys. Getting married again isn't part of my plan," much less

Eliza believed him. At least, for now, she did.
"Casper, I'm tired."
"Sleep then, I'm right here."
When Gabe's car pulled up at the hotel, he didn't rush in to see Eliza. Sitting in the car, he lit a cigarette, the smoke curling around him as he furrowed his brows.
"Mr. Gillum." Dillon approached his car window and gave a gentle knock, "What
brings you here? Worried about our lady?"
Dillon's question carried a hint of knowing.
Gabe stepped out of the car, offering a small smile, "Being a major client involved in this incident, it
not to come and
in."
"That's very considerate of you, Mr. Gillum, but..." Dillon glanced up at the building, "...Mr. Casper and the lady are probably asleep now."
"I won't disturb them. I've booked a room; we can catch up in the morning."
Dillon raised an eyebrow slightly, offering a polite smile, "Then I'll leave you to it, Mr. Gillum."
What do you think?
