Jilted Ex-wife Billionaire Heiress

Chapter 114

Chapter 114 Time To Clear Things Up

'Trying to erase the public's memory of the first Mrs Cavanaugh to make way for the second.' Avery tilted his chin at Regina. 'I wonder who the lucky lady is. She has to be someone special to make you so devoted.'

Micah was too smart not to sense the sarcasm in Avery's words.

His brows furrowed.

He disliked others prying into his personal affairs, especially considering the ongoing rumours involving Avery and Darya.

Was that why Avery was defending Darya?

Before Micah could speak, Regina seized the chance to introduce herself. 'My name's Regina Fischer. You might not have seen me around before because I grew up abroad. My uncle is the chairman of Fortuna Capital Solutions.' Avery nodded politely. 'I see.'

'Do you and my uncle know each other?' Regina's eyes lit up.

Avery smiled faintly, his gaze condescending as he spoke in a warm yet patronising tone. 'No, we don't know each other, and I haven't heard of him. Or

his company."

Regina's smile froze, feeling somewhat awkward and embarrassed.

She could sense the disdain in his words.

But she was still better off than Darya, who had nothing.

With that thought, Regina no longer cared about Avery's attitude towards her.

'But you two do make a perfect couple,' Avery added.

Regina blushed and lowered her head, while Micah's face turned even colder.

'Mr McAllister, don't you think it's rude to pry into my personal life?' Micah's expression grew stern.

Avery remained calm, a slight smile playing on his lips as he pursed them. 'Perhaps."

He spoke before Micah could reply, 'Excuse me. It's time for my opening speech."

Just then, the lights dimmed, and the music abruptly ceased.

Avery made his way towards the main stage, wearing a confident smile.

Everyone knew the key event of the night was about to unfold.

Chapter 114 Time To Clear Things Up

Cameras flashed as the media eagerly awaited the president's speech

'Ladies and gentlemen,' Avery began. 'Distinguished guests, colleagues and friends, good evening, and welcome to this momentous occasion as we gather here tonight to celelate a milestone that is truly remarcable ca 150th anniversary of our esteemed company. It is an immense honour for me to stand before you so the

President...

Micah stood in the back of the crowd, scanning the room for Darya.

'Micah, you haven't eaten anything all night.' Regina stood next to him.

She held up a small fruit platter and picked up a slice of apple with a toothpick 'Here'

Micah lowered his head, his gaze icy cold.

Then he turned away without acknowledging her.

Regina's hand froze, feeling a tinge of embarrassment.

Ever since she returned to the country, Micah had been distant, unlike before.

She rarely had the chance to see him.

And now that she finally did, he rejected her attempt to get closer.

All of this was because of Darya Miller!

She longed to witness the woman's disgrace, to see her expelled from this prestigious event and cast out of the McAllister family.

On the stage, Avery's speech was drawing to a close.

'Tonight, as we raise our glasses in celebration, let us toast to the next 150 years of our company's journey. Together, with our collective dedication and unwavering resolve, we will shape the future, build upon our legacy, and leave an indelible mark on the world. Thank you for being a part of this extraordinary celebration. Here's to 150 years of history, and to a future filled with endless possibilities. Cheers!"

The guests raised their glasses in response.

They were impressed by Avery's performance.

He had handled himself with aplomb.

But the reporters, on the other hand, were less satisfied.

They weren't just here to cover the anniversary celebration.

Avery said nothing about the rumours surrounding him and Darya Miller.

And there was no Q&A session where they could ask him outright.

Just as one reporter was about to shout out his question in public, another man stepped onto the main stage

He patted Avery's shoulder. 'Well done, my boy."

Avery smiled and then left the stage.

Matthias stood behind the lectern and cast his gaze upon the crowd.

'Good evening, distinguished guests. I'm pretty sure many of you here have caught wind of the recent gossip surrounding my son and a woman. And I bet you are all dying to know who she is.'

Polite laughter rippled through the crowd.

'Well, folks, it's time to clear things up.'

A hush fell over the room as everyone eagerly awaited Matthias's next words.

With a horde of journalists in attendance, this was the perfect chance to put an end to the spreading rumours.

Morton, in particular, sported a knowing and satisfied smile on his face. Seriously, how could Matthias allow his son to marry a woman who had gone through a divorce?

Darya Miller, that clueless woman, really had no idea about her place.

Well, she was about to find out, wasn't she?

Felicia and Judy exchanged a glance and smirked.

Darya's reputation was about to be wrecked, and fast!

They had been yearning for this moment for ages.

'Why isn't she showing up yet?' Judy searched the area, but the woman's figure was nowhere to be found.

Wasn't she just here a moment ago?

Felicia shrugged nonchalantly. 'Maybe they already kicked her out. The McAllisters are not dumb enough to keep a ticking time bomb around.' Matthias fixed a piercing gaze on the Cavanaugh family members, his voice resounding through the room. 'Darya Miller, as the vice president of the Paragon Group, led the negotiations with our business partner Solaro and has recently signed a multibillion-dollar deal with them. Her position at the company is well deserved and justified by her excellent performance. She is indeed close with Avery, but the relationship between them is not what you all think it is...'

A heavy silence enveloped the room as Matthias's words echoed in everyone's

ears.

'Now, let me take this chance to properly introduce her,' Matthias announced.

Morton furrowed his brows, looking up.

Even Micah seemed slightly perplexed.

The lingering doubt in his heart was growing stronger.

Matthias turned his head, a tender smile spreading across his face as he

beckoned. 'Darya, my dear, come onnoveldrama

out.'

Everyone held their breath, eyes locked on the slowly opening door to the left of

the stage.

A spotlight beamed down, casting a faint golden glow upon the woman who stepped out.
