Love on the Fast Track

Chapter 1409

Chapter 1409:

Her voice softened as she spoke to Juliana. She gently closed the door and left after that.

Tension simmered in the living room. The Carters’ faces were grim, shadows of anger and bitterness darkening their expressions.

Kathy broke the silence. “Grandma has always favored that manipulative woman! Even now, she’s leaving money to her! What kind of spell has Norah cast on her to make her trust Norah so completely?”

Marlene chimed in hesitantly, “Miss Wilson isn’t even part of the Carter family anymore. It doesn’t seem right for her to take Juliana’s money, does it?”

Adrian’s voice was low and menacing as he spoke. “If she dares take it, I’ll accuse her of fraud. She’s conning an older woman out of her savings. That money belongs to us!”

The Carter family knew Juliana’s private savings amounted to several hundred thousand. To them, it was a small fortune, a lifeline they desperately needed to claw their way out of financial ruin.

When Norah entered the living room, their eyes turned to her with open hostility.

“Norah, that money belongs to this family! You have no right to take it!” Sharon snapped. Her composure from earlier was long gone, replaced by raw frustration.

Kathy glared, her voice sharp and filled with venom. “Grandma’s health is deteriorating, and you’re here trying to rob her blind! Do you even have a conscience?”

“I should be the one asking that question. Do you even have a conscience, huh?” Norah’s calm demeanor didn’t waver. She let out a cold laugh, her tone biting yet composed. “Juliana willingly gave me the money—it was her choice, not mine. And just so we’re clear, I recorded our conversation. Sue me if you want, but you’ll only embarrass yourselves in court.”

Her words struck like lightning, leaving everyone stunned. The fact that she had been smart enough to record everything rendered them momentarily speechless.

Norah’s gaze swept over them, a mix of pity and disdain in her eyes. “If that money stays in your hands, who knows how quickly it’ll disappear? Now that I have it, I’ll use it for Juliana’s care. She’ll be treated at Peace Ark Private Hospital, where she will get proper care and respect.” When Juliana handed her the money, Norah already knew how she would use it.

She couldn’t sit back and let the woman who had once treated her with such kindness waste away in misery, abandoned by an ungrateful son and grandson—especially when the means to save her were right in front of them.noveldrama

Norah’s gaze shifted to Adrian and Derek, and she warned, “Don’t even think about pulling anything. The Wilson family and the Scott family aren’t to be trifled with. If you have any sense left, you’ll reflect on how you ended up like this.”

Her divorce had played a role, but the real cause was Derek’s betrayal during their marriage—a violation of trust and principle.

Everything that followed after their separation was because of his actions, and he had no one to blame but himself.

With that, Norah turned and left their apartment, her steps firm and assured. The Carter family sat frozen, their silence more telling than any argument.

They couldn’t afford to fight her. Not now, not ever. At their peak, the Carter family might have held their heads high, but now, they knew better than to challenge the Wilson and Scott families. They were powerless.

Marlene spoke hesitantly, her tone soft. “But Juliana is our family. Norah shouldn’t take her away without our permission, right?”

Kathy wavered. “Are we really going to use Grandma to negotiate with Norah? Grandma’s health is already so fragile—she might not have much time left.”
