Please Give Me Another Chance Mrs Hamilton

Chapter 302

Nadine could only keep the truth hidden as long as possible. After all, Sophie was old. Her heart was weak, and she couldn't handle any shocks.

Nadine felt a pang in her chest. She didn't know how to face Sophie, so she chose to remain silent.

Sophie was unable to see the expression on Nadine's face, but she sensed that something was wrong and that Nadine was hiding something. She couldn't help but ask, "Nadine, tell me the truth. Is my illness incurable?

"If that's the case, I won't bother treating it. You can tell the doctors to give me some medicine, and I'll go home and live out my days as they come."

Just as Nadine wanted to stop her, Sophie continued, "Don't talk about those fanciful things. I don't want to hear it.

"All I know is that my condition is quite serious. Otherwise, the country hospital wouldn't have transferred me here. The doctors there said that they couldn't treat it and that it was beyond their capabilities.

"I told you that I've lived for over 80 years, and I've seen everything. If this illness can be cured, then spending some money is fine. But if it isn't, what's the use of spending the money? I'll be gone in the end. Wouldn't that just drag down the whole family?

"Victoria still needs to go to school, and there are two young ones in the family. I can't just selfishly make everyone suffer, right?"

Sophie saw things clearly and had already made plans for herself. She knew the treatment would cost 300 thousand dollars.

The family was already so poor that they were about to sell the house. How could they come up with another 300 thousand dollars? Plus, at her age, what was there that she couldn't let go of?

Nadine wanted to persuade Sophie, but Sophie didn't give her a chance. She pushed Nadine's hand away, said she was tired and wanted to rest, and asked her to leave.

Nadine couldn't go against Sophie's wishes, so she had no choice but to leave. As soon as she stepped out of the ward, she ran into Victoria, who had on flamboyant scene clothes.

"Well, well. If it isn't Nadine, the one who betrayed my brother. How much did you get for selling him out?

"Don't tell me it was just 60

Victoria had changed her outfit. She was wearing a long, black mohair sweater with a white turtleneck underneath. She also wore ripped pants with large holes.

She didn't wear any thermal pants, exposing her legs. The weather was cold, and her legs were mottled blue and purple from the cold. However, she seemed completely oblivious, not caring at all.

Nadine didn't know what to say, so she remained silent.

Seeing her silence, Victoria became even more arrogant. "The guy who was with you last time was pretty charming. Was he a stand-in?

"He didn't seem to pay much attention to you though. Bet you've been throwing yourself at him and getting the cold shoulder, huh? He might look like him, but his personality sure doesn't match."

Hearing Victoria getting increasingly out of line, Nadine shouted to stop her. "Victoria Clarke! Have you had enough?

"What happened back then was something you agreed to. Don't go pushing all the blame onto others! When it came time to sign, it was your name on the document."

Victoria tilted her head, chewing some gum as she blew a bubble. Her expression was full of mockery as she said, "Weren't you the one who begged me to sign it? You weren't nearly as tough as you now when you were begging me. Cóntent belongs to

Suddenly, Sophie coughed inside the ward. Nadine didn't want to argue with Victoria any longer and turned to leave, but Victoria wasn't planning on letting her off that easily and chased after her.
