Richest Mogul

Chapter 1717

Priscilla said, "I want to know the reason for my dismissal."

She took a deep breath to steady herself. Alanna responded in an official tone, "You should know the reason better than anyone. While the company is letting you go, the compensation offered is of the highest standard."

In the Martin Group, dismissals always came with explanations. A company of this size wouldn't keep idle employees. However, for someone like Priscilla to be dismissed under Paul's direct order, it was clear something had gone wrong during the recent business trip with Joe.

Only Priscilla had been reassigned to her original position among the three colleagues who had stepped in for Paul. Now, with Paul himself calling for her dismissal, the problem was undeniably centered on her.

Priscilla was undeniably competent at work, but she harbored some rather foolish ideas. As a woman, Alanna could see it clearly and guess it even more easily.

That was a foolish move. Plenty of women at Martin Group might have entertained similar thoughts, but they were wise enough to snuff them out quickly. Everyone understood it was nothing more than an unattainable dream-a dream best left untouched.

Those who had been with the company for years knew exactly how to navigate situations like this. Experience had taught them where the boundaries lay and what lines should never be crossed.

Alanna's expression remained indifferent as Priscilla stood awkwardly, struggling to form a response. "You..."

With a sigh, Alanna softened slightly. "Look, we've worked together for years. My advice is to take this with grace. Having Martin Group on your résumé will open doors for you. But mistakes come with consequences."

Though Alanna spoke firmly, there was a hint of regret. After all, she had been the one to hire Priscilla.

Back then, she seemed like the perfect candidate-smart, capable, and strikingly beautiful. However, her overconfidence, coupled with these traits, likely led to poor decisions.

Priscilla suddenly stood up and said, "Fine, I understand."

Her words were calm, but her movements betrayed her agitation as she pushed the door open and stepped out.

Several colleagues cast curious glances her way.

No one said a word, but Priscilla felt as if she could hear them anyway. It was as if they were saying, "Look at her, Priscilla embarrassed herself. She tried to seduce Mr. Martin, and now she's lost her job. She's so full of herself! Did she think she was irresistible or something?"

Plenty of people in the company had shown interest in her, but she found none of them appealing.

She quickly made her way to the hallway, taking several deep breaths to calm herself.

For days, she had feared this outcome. Skylar was unlikely to tolerate her presence in the company.

After all, no one could blame a wife for not wanting someone who coveted her husband hanging around. Her worst fears had come true.

Pulling out her phone, she quickly found Paul's number and called him.

To her relief, Paul picked up.

"Mr. Ziegler, it's Priscilla Dunn," she began.

Before she could say more, Paul cut her off. "I know why you're calling. There's no need to beat around the bush. I've always thought you were professional who took her work

seriously. Apparently, I was

mistaken.

"If I were you, I'd take the generous severance package and handle the resignation process with dignity. That way, if we cross paths in the future, I might still afford you some courtesy."

"I... I know was wrong this time. Mr. Martin is such an outstanding man. I haven't had much experience with relationships, and being so close to him well, I let thoughts I shouldn't have had get the better of me.

"But I've learned my lesson. Can't you give me another chance? I'll personally apologize to both Mr. Martin and Mrs. Martin and thoroughly reflect on my actions.

"It wasn't easy for me to get this job,

and I've worked so hard to get to where ham. I don't want to lose everything because of one stupid mistake." Priscilla's voice cracked as she tried to salvage her case.

But Paul wasn't about to give Priscilla any more room to plead her case. "Sorry,

Ms. Dunn. Mr. Martin already gave you one chance, and you didn't take it."

To Paul, anyone who failed to think things through the first time was unlikely to make sound decisions later, and keeping such a person in the company was a liability.

Priscilla let out a sharp breath, stunned. The finality of the dial tone that followed left her frozen in place.

A few hours later, Skylar met Priscilla in the lounge.noveldrama

It was the end of the work day, and Skylar had finished her work early. When she heard that Ms. Dunn had requested to see her, she assumed it was a client.

To her surprise, it was Priscilla.
