Chapter 1202
It might look like they're mother and daughter, but that little girl calls the elegant lady "Grandma." And if you're thinking it's a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship, who else has such a bickering yet endearing bond?
With exams just two months away, Mia is burning the midnight oil every night. Before heading to bed, Hansen peeks into the study to check on his daughter-in- law. "Mia, you can hit the books anytime. It's late, get some sleep. You can start fresh in the morning."
Mia turns and smiles, "Dad, I'll turn in soon. You get some rest too."
Feeling a twinge of concern, Hansen tells the butler, "Fix Mia a late-night snack. She's looking way too thin these days."
The butler nods, "Yes, sir. Mr. Andre has already informed the kitchen."
Bruce, having sorted through some notes, takes a moment to hand them to his sister-in-law. "Mia, here are some notes I've put together. They might help you with your exams."
"Thanks, Big Brother," Mia replies, grateful. The next day, she prints a copy to share with Jamie at the library. "My brother put these together. They might be useful for us."
Jamie glances over the notes and says, "Mia, I just dropped $300 on materials online. Which should we dive into first?"noveldrama
"Let's start with my brother's notes. He knows his stuff."
Without a second thought, the study buddies swap materials and dive back into their revision.
The Cedillo family's chef goes all out preparing Mia's lunch. Henry, always seizing the opportunity, trails behind the servant delivering the meal. He sneaks bites while his mom eats, unable to resist the temptation.
Conner has lingered in Havenbrook
longer than planned. There are pressing matters back home, but he can't
help worrying about everyone
here. One day, he drops by Cedillo Inc again.
"Andre, nothing's stirring on the Dark Web, but Greg's vanished," Conner shares.
Andre, calm and absorbed in his work, responds, "He's playing the waiting game,
knowing we're on edge. He's keeping us on our toes deliberately."
Conner nods, Exactly. I haven't left
because I'm afraid they might suddenly target Annie. Whenever Annie takes on a case, I send someone to scout it first, making sure it's safe. What about you, Andre?"
Andre signs a document, closes it, and sets it aside. "Mia's got a sharp sense. Even if I put just a couple of people on her for protection, she picks up on it. She comes back complaining about feeling watched while studying, and it bothers her. If I don't protect her, I worry? So, I keep calling her, making sure she stays put. Henry's easier-young and a bit clueless, he's always got bodyguards shadowing him, and
lately, he's been staying in."
After a bit more chatting, Andre's phone rings again. He answers, "Mia?"
"Hey, honey, your son is at it again, snatching my food."
On the other end, Henry's making a fuss, determined to grab his mom's
chopsticks and help himself.
Andre chuckles, "How'd he get in there again?"
After a quick chat, they hang up, and Andre turns to his friend, "Aunt's memorial is coming up."
Conner nods, feeling the weight of it. "I want to go back, but..."
"Go ahead. Annie and my Mia are both tough nuts. And don't worry, I've got things covered here," Andre reassures him, looking at his friend with confidence.
What do you think?
