Talented Heiress: A Rose With Thorns

Chapter 792

"You two must be really proud of yourselves," Yvette said coolly.

Samuel lost any remaining courage he had at her words and hurriedly blabbered,

"I wasn't purposefully trying to help Mr. Quinn hide things from you, Ms. Yvette!

Mr. Quinn was the one who wouldn't allow me to tell you!

"I had even tried to advise him to come clean, but he just wouldn't listen... He was simply bent on doing things his way, and there was nothing I could do to stop him!"

Wilson was speechless. He'd just barely managed to avert his own crisis, but now this idiot was trying to get him back in trouble!

However, Samuel wasn't the least bit panicked at the feeling of Wilson's cold gaze on him. After all, it wasn't scary to get on Wilson's bad side when Yvette was there to protect him! But if he offended her, then he'd really be doomed!

On the other hand, Yvette wasn't really trying to make things difficult for him. She snorted lightly, then said, "Make sure there's no next time."

"Yes, yes, of course!" he responded immediately, nodding repeatedly even as he sighed in relief. "I understand, Ms. Yvette! I guarantee there definitely won't be a next time!"

"Go off and do whatever you have to, then," she said in reply.

"Yes, ma'am!"

Samuel flashed her a honeyed smile before practically flying off as if he was being chased by a pack of lions.

Yvette clicked her tongue lightly at his behavior.

Was she really that scary?

...

Half an hour later, Yvette walked out of the shower. She picked up her phone and, seeing countless missed calls, proceeded to call back.

The call was picked up instantly, and Ellen's anxious and concerned voice could be heard from the other end.

"You finally contacted me, Yvie! Do you know how worried I was when I couldn't get in touch with you? Xavier and I almost went crazy with anxiety! We were even planning to march over to Yenosha and snatch you back from the Shadow Alliance!"

Yvette felt her heart warm at the concern in her voice. "You don't have to worry about me, Ellie. I'm fine."

"As long as you're alright, sweetie!" replied Ellen, sighing in relief.

Then, she continued hurriedly, "You've really taken too big a risk this time, Yvie. To think you actually did something like this behind our backs! Let me know your current location, and we'll come help you withdraw from Yenosha immediately!"

"You guys don't have to come pick me up, Ellie-"

"That won't do, sweetie," Ellen cut her off. "You can't remain in Yenosha any longer. You had blown up the Shadow Alliance's arms factory and casino, which caused them heavy losses, after all.

"That stupid boss of theirs has already made his move to capture you, so you're in great danger right now. You have to leave Yenosha immediately!"

In response, she said exasperatedly, "You really don't have to worry about me, Ellie. I call the shots with the Shadow Alliance now."

"Huh?"

Ellen was evidently stunned to hear her words.

"What nonsense are you spouting, sweetie? Did you get a concussion?"

The Shadow Alliance had been the Dark Organization's archenemies for years. If they were to find out Yvette's real identity, adding in the fact that Yvette had caused them heavy losses and humiliated them, they'd definitely want to let her taste the sting of a whip, if not outright kill her!

"The situation is critical, Yvie, and we can't delay things any longer. For every second we waste, you're in even greater danger! We'll come to your aid as fast as possible..."

Seeing that Ellen didn't believe her at all, Yvette could only explain, "Ellie, Wilson is the Shadow Alliance's boss."

At her words, there was dead silence from the other end before she heard a high- pitched shriek through the receiver.

"What the fuck? You're not pulling my leg, are you, sweetie?"

This was just outrageous! Yvette's archenemy turned out to be her fiancé? Not

even a novel writer would dare write this kind of plot!

"I'm not pulling your leg, Ellie," said Yvette, massaging her temples. also only just found out about it. If we had learned the truth just a moment later, we might have killed each other!"

Ellen could imagine how shocked and speechless they must have felt to discover that their opponent was actually their betrothed right in the heat of the moment.

"Sweetie, you can't forgive Wilson so easily for daring to hide such a major thing from you!"

"Yes," Yvette replied in agreement, nodding as she continued, "That's why I asked him for the Shadow Alliance's newly developed intercontinental ballistic missile."

"Wilson actually just gave you the Shadow Alliance's intercontinental ballistic missile, Yvie?" Ellen asked incredulously.

She swallowed, so stunned that she involuntarily added, "Hot damn! That's crazy!" That was something not even money could buy!

A good while later, Ellen finally managed to calm down.

She then continued, "Sweetie, now that the Shadow Alliance is as good as yours, doesn't that mean that the arms factory and casino that you blew up are also considered losses to you?"

At the thought of the huge amount of losses sustained, Yvette's heart immediately started to ache and she fell silent.

That was what Wilson saw as he walked into the room. His black hair was slightly wet and he was wearing loose, casual clothes, looking as if he had just returned from showering in another room.

Yvette silently counted up the losses in her head, feeling incomparably regretful. If she'd found out earlier, she wouldn't have blown up the arms factory and the casino...

"Don't feel bad about it anymore, baby," said Wilson.

His alluring lips curved up in a smile as he hugged her from behind, coaxing

gently, "Your fiancé here still has a lot of money, and it all belongs to you!"

Yvette's mood finally improved a little at his words, but she reached out to push

him away, letting out a haughty snort.

"I haven't even forgiven you yet, so don't touch me! You can get out now! I want to

rest!"

An expression of helplessness

flashed across his face at her

rejection. But then he closed the distance between them all at once, hot breath blowing out over her ear, and spoke in an enchanting voice.

"Won't you let me stay and warm your bed for you, baby?"

Yvette was silent.

Wilson chuckled deeply, adding, "If you don't answer, then I'll be taking that as a yes."

She had never seen such a shameless person!

Wordlessly, she kicked out at him, but he caught her leg in a gentle grip.

"Baby, what would you do if that kick caused serious damage?"

His eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of danger creeping into his tone.

Yvette turned to look and realized that she had just almost kicked his...noveldrama

She really hadn't done it on purpose this time. Who would've expected it to be such a coincidence?
