The Billionaire And His Son Want Me Back (Paisley)

Chapter 35

Paisley knew exactly how much Emery hated Dominick. If Emery saw him here, given her fiery personality, she'd definitely have something sharp to say. It could turn into a big scene, and that was the last thing Paisley wanted.

For everyone's sake, she figured it'd be best if Grayson left too. It'd be better for both of them. "Paisley!" Dominick snarled, his eyes flashing with fury. "I'll say this one more time-you are Sonny's biological mother. No matter what, you have a responsibility to take care of him until he's eighteen. That's the law!"

Dominick jabbed a finger toward Paisley's phone, his frustration rising. "Go, call that guy and tell him not to come."

Dominick's blood was boiling just at the thought of that guy with slicked-back hair who looked like he were straight out of a sitcom.

"Paisley, are you blind? If you want someone new, at least pick someone worthy. Not some pretty boy who-" He stopped when he saw Serena, her big innocent eyes staring at him, looking a bit scared. Dominick faltered, the words dying on his tongue. The sight of that angelic face made it impossible to continue his tirade.

"No matter what, you will take care of Sonny this weekend. You're his mother, so take the responsibility." After speaking, he spun on his heel and stormed toward the door, as if to leave no room for further argument.

But just as he was about to walk out, he turned back.

"What now?" Paisley asked, barely holding back her annoyance.

"Give me your phone number," he said in a low voice, not even meeting her gaze.

"It's the same as before. You're still on my blacklist," Paisley replied, matter-of-factly.

Dominick whipped around and glared at Paisley. "Remove me from that damn list," he barked. "I'm going to check on Sonny whenever I feel like it."

"Fine," Paisley sighed and rolled her eyes. Under Dominick's intense gaze, she reluctantly removed his number from the blacklist.

Seeing that string of digits, once so familiar that she could recite it easily, Paisley felt a flood of complicated feelings.

"Anything else, Mr. Vanderbilt?" she said, her tone now all business.

Dominick opened his mouth as if to say something, but when his eyes fell on the two kids watching them, he swallowed whatever words were on his tongue.

He bent down to grab his jacket, which he had tossed on the floor earlier, and turned to Paisley one last time, his voice cold. "Don't let that guy come here. I don't want anyone messing with my son's well-being." Paisley rolled her eyes and shot back, "Got it. Can you go now?"

But Dominick didn't move. He just stood there, like he wasn't in any hurry to leave.

Paisley complained in her mind, 'What the hell is this guy playing at? He has a flight later tonight, doesn't he?'noveldrama

Just as she was about to snap at him again, Dominick's phone rang. He visibly gathered himself and answered it in front of Paisley.

Before he could even put the phone to his ear, a woman's frantic, tear-filled voice came through the speaker. "Dom..."

Even hearing just a name, Paisley instantly recognized the voice-Marissa.

As soon as the phone connected, Dominick's face turned serious, and he replied in an urgent tone, "Okay, wait for me. I'll be there in a minute."

He shot Paisley a quick glance, gave a brief nod, and then hurried out the door, too rushed to even close the door.

Paisley followed him and quietly shut the door. She couldn't help but feel relieved that she had made the right decision to free herself from that suffocating relationship.
