The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus)

Chapter 578 What Are You Laughing At? I'm Talking About You

"Hey! What do you two think you're doing?"

Natalie was still deep in thought when Mason stormed over. He grabbed Marcus by the collar with a glare fierce enough to set him on fire.

"Marcus, what's the meaning of this?" he snapped. "No proposal, no wedding ceremony, and you just want to drag Nat into City Hall? I'm telling you right now, I won't allow it!"

He jabbed a finger at Marcus' chest. "We barely even let you date her, and you haven't even properly proven yourself yet. Now you think you can just waltz in and marry her? Keep dreaming!"

Marcus remained silent.

At that moment, Olivia ran up to Natalie. "Nat, Mason said Marcus was taking you to City Hall, but I didn't believe him. Turns out, for once, he was right. Was Marcus trying to marry you?"

Natalie nodded. "Yeah. He even carries his birth certificate around. But... I haven't quite decided yet."

Olivia glanced at Mason and Marcus, who had moved a few steps away, now locked in what looked like a very intense, hushed argument.

"This is wild," Olivia mused. "Marcus is the one trying to get married, but Mason's the one having a meltdown."

"Right." Natalie nodded. "It's kind of hilarious. Olivia, let's go."

Without another word, she turned and got into the driver's seat.

Olivia hesitated for a second before quickly sliding into the passenger seat.

"Buckle up."

"Oh, okay." Olivia hurriedly clicked her seatbelt into place. The moment she did, Natalie started the engine and sped off.

Olivia was stunned.

A few feet away, Marcus was still standing there, calmly enduring Mason's outburst. Then, as if it was just another casual remark, he said, "Mason, Nat just drove off with Ms. Thatcher."

"What the hell are you talking about—" Mason turned and instantly screamed. Then, without another word, he took off running after the car.

"Nat! Olivia! Get back here!"

Marcus' driver hesitated for a moment before cautiously stepping forward. "Mr. Holden... Ms. Walker told me to get out of the car."

"I know." Marcus remained completely unfazed, his expression calm and unreadable. "We'll take Mason's car."

"Huh?" The driver blinked in confusion.

"You can call a cab to get back," Marcus said as he walked over to Mason's car.

He casually opened the door and slid into the backseat. "Drive."

Ryan hesitated. "Mr. Holden, this... this doesn't seem appropriate."

"What's inappropriate about it?" Marcus shot him a sidelong glance. "Do you think

your Mr. Mason even remembers he had come here by car?"

Ryan fell silent.

"Just drive. Go pick him up."

"Yes, Mr. Holden."

Without further argument, Ryan started the engine and headed in the direction Mason had sprinted off.

"Your Mr. Mason is a true athlete." As they closed the distance, Marcus watched Mason running full-speed ahead, his long strides eating up the pavement.

He smirked. "Nice legs."

Ryan remained silent.

Since when did Marcus get this sharp-tongued?

He honked as they caught up, then rolled down the window. "Mr. Mason, get in."

Mason turned his head and immediately saw Marcus sitting comfortably inside his car. His eyes widened in outrage. "Marcus, get the hell out! Why are you in my car?"

Marcus merely closed his eyes, completely ignoring the fuming athlete.

Ryan remained professional. "Mr. Mason, please get in. If we wait any longer, we'll lose track of Ms. Natalie and Ms. Thatcher."

Realizing Natalie's car was nowhere in sight, Mason clenched his jaw, yanked open the door, and climbed in-looking ready to fight.

Before he could get a word out, Marcus suddenly pulled out a chocolate bar and handed it to him. "Here, eat something sweet. Cool off a bit."

"You-" Mason had been all set to throw Marcus out of his car, but when he saw the chocolate was Natalie's favorite brand, he begrudgingly let it slide.

"Call Ms. Thatcher. Ask where they went," Marcus said.

Marcus narrowed his eyes. "Wait, wait, wait-so you think you can bribe me with just one chocolate bar?"

"From now on, I'll cover all your and Ms. Thatcher's dating expenses."

Without hesitation, Marcus pulled out a sleek black card and handed it over. "No spending limit. The PIN code is Nat's birthday."

"Well..." Mason snatched the card instantly. "I mean, it'd be rude to refuse. Wouldn't want to seem like some greedy guy or anything."

Marcus smiled faintly. "Then, if you don't mind, make that call now."

"No problem!" Mason grinned from ear to ear as he dialed Olivia's number.

"Hello? Olivia, where are you and Nat? Why'd you ditch us like that?" he asked.

Olivia replied casually, "Nat's heading home to grab her birth certificate and let Mr. and Mrs. Walker know she's marrying Marcus."

Mason had the call on speaker, and Olivia's voice came through loud and clear, every single word reaching both of their ears.

She continued

Hike it was nothing.

"She didn't bring her bag today because of her dress, so her birth certificate is still at home. Oh, by the way, Mason, should we just

ahead and get our marriage the

certificate too?"

"Uh... Wha-Ahhhhh!"

Mason let out a noise somewhere between a strangled gasp and a groundhog's

scream.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Olivia snapped before abruptly hanging up.

"Marcus, did you hear that? Olivia said she wants to marry me! She wants to apply for a marriage certificate with me! I'm getting married! I'm really getting married!" Mason screamed.

Marcus remained silent.

Did this guy's ears not work? His brain seemed a little faulty, too.

"Mason, let's do it together," Marcus' mood finally relaxing. "My treat." "Get lost." Mason practically vibrated in his seat, still giddy. "Who the hell needs someone else to pay for their marriage certificate? I can afford that myself." Marcus smirked. "What if I meant I'll cover all the expenses for your wedding?"

Mason grabbed Marcus' hand, practically vibrating with excitement. "Marcus, say no more! From now on, whatever you need me to do, I'm in. If anyone dares to oppose Nat marrying you, I'll take care of them for you."

Marcus nodded sincerely. "Thanks, Mason."

"No need to thank me. We're family!" Mason declared grandly.

Marcus chuckled. The Walker family was wealthy, but they didn't spoil their sons. Mason, still a student, had everything he needed, but he wasn't given unlimited spending money. If he wanted extra cash, he had to earn it himself and through legitimate means only.

Sometimes, his older brothers helped him out, but Mason rarely took their money.

Most of his allowance already went to spoiling Natalie, and now that he was with Olivia, his budget was stretched even thinner.

But no matter how tight things got, Mason refused to spend Olivia's money. Marcus' money, though? That was a different story.

After all, Marcus was taking his sister away, so spending his money was only fair. And Marcus, being Marcus, knew exactly how to use that to his advantage.

"Alright, I'm calling Lincoln. He'll bring my birth certificate."

Without hesitation, he dialed. The moment Lincoln picked up, Mason proudly announced, "Lincoln, bring my birth certificate to City Hall. Your little brother is getting married!"

Lincoln's deep, magnetic voice came through the phone. "Did you forget to take your meds before leaving the house? I suggest you head straight to Hector's hospital and have him check your brain."

With that, Lincoln hung up.

"What the hell, Lincoln? Fine, I'll call Hector," Mason grumbled.

Marcus didn't say anything, just watched with wild amusement as Mason dialed

again.

"Hector, you busy? Do me a favor, bring my birth certificate to City Hall. I'm getting married to Olivia!"

Hector's voice came through, steady and unimpressed. "Did you meet Ms. Thatcher's parents? Did you officially propose. Have both families sat down and discussed the wedding? If not, what the hell are you doing trying to get a marriage certificate? Show some respect for the girl."

Mason hesitated. "Uh... I haven't... yet."

Hector soon hung up.

Marcus couldn't hold back his laughter anymore.

Mason tossed his phone aside and lunged, grabbing Marcus by the collar. "What

the hell are you laughing at? Hector was talking about you, too!"noveldrama
