The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus)

Chapter 610 Turning Down His Invitation

Sierra gently tried to talk Samuel down. When she was a child, Samantha brought her into the Sinclair family. Sophia had held her hand and showed her around the Sinclair residence, and at night, she even let her sleep in the same room.

But after Samantha brought Sierra home, she and Ivan had a huge argument that very night.noveldrama

Ivan had a mistress and an illegitimate daughter on the side, yet he wouldn't allow Samantha, the legitimate wife, to adopt an orphan.

That fight between them was loud and fierce. In the end, Samantha had no choice but to agree to Ivan's demand and send either Samuel or Sophia away, along with Sierra, to make room for his illegitimate daughter.

Left with no option, Samantha sent Samuel and Sierra away. Sophia stayed behind as leverage.

With Sophia at home, Samantha was forced into a convent. And for Samantha's sake, Sophia had to endure Ruby's torment in every way from a very young age.

Even though Sophia was Sky's fiancé, he never truly valued or cared for her. From childhood until now, the person she relied on the most was Marcus.

Now that Samuel had brought Sierra back to Dithoria, though they had lived abroad all these years, they were never out of the loop with what was going on.

Currently, the Sinclair family was under Sophia's control, and Samantha stood firmly by her side.

But Samuel never had any intention of coming back to fight Sophia over anything. He only wanted to formally reconnect and maybe visit the family. What he didn't expect was for both Sophia and Samantha to treat him with such coldness.

"Why don't we try inviting Mr. Holden and Ms. Walker?" Melissa suggested. "We met them back in Amberton. They seemed quite easy to talk to. Besides, Samuel, Cee, you're friends with Mr. Holden. If he reaches out to Ms. Sinclair, it should be fine, right?"

Sierra looked at Samuel. "Samuel, I think Mom's suggestion is good."

"I think so too." Samuel let out a heavy breath. "If nothing else works, I'll call Marcus myself."

As he spoke, Samuel took out his phone and dialed for Marcus. As soon as the call connected, he got straight to the point.

"Hey Marcus, I brought Sierra back to Dithoria. Let's meet up and have a meal."

"Sorry," Marcus replied flatly. "I'm busy with wedding preparations right now. I don't have time to meet you."

The reason was simple. The moment Samuel and the Remingtons left the Walker residence, Charlotte had informed Natalie of what transpired.

When it came to the Sinclair family, Charlotte and William refrained from commenting too much. But after all the pain Sophia had endured because of the Walker family-and the fact that Samuel, as her own brother, never even checked in on her when things went wrong-Charlotte had no sympathy for him. He didn't even bother calling to show concern, let alone offer help.

Charlotte sympathized with Sophia. Samuel had chosen to be invisible all these years. Now that Sophia and Samantha had finally found peace and stability, he shouldn't be coming back to disrupt that.

Charlotte and William knew exactly why he had returned. Natalie and Marcus understood it all the more.

As far as the Sinclair family was concerned, Samuel had been nothing but a beneficiary. And in the unanimous opinion of William and Charlotte, a brother and son like him—with no conscience-didn't deserve recognition from Sophia or Samantha.

So, when Samuel called, Marcus turned him down without hesitation.

"You know, Samuel." Marcus' deep and composed voice came through again. "Natalie and I are getting married in a month. I'm really busy right now. Since you brought Mr. Remington and the others to

Dithoria, why not show them around

a bit? Let them enjoy the city.

"Once the wedding's done, and I've some free time, we can catch up then. That's

it for now. I have to go."

Marcus ended the call right after he spoke.

Samuel's face darkened further.

"Marcus is clearly siding with the Walker family. Dad, you gave him the medicine that saved his mother. Now look at how he treats us."

Samuel's expression was grim. "Marcus is an ungrateful bastard."

"Samuel, that's out of line." Jonathan's face sank. "I didn't give him that medicine for free. I made a deal. I gave him the medicine, and in return, he helped me find my biological daughter. It was a fair trade. You can't call that ungrateful.

"I'm disappointed in you, Samuel.

"Stop the car," Jonathan ordered. "Melissa, we're getting out."

"Huh?" Melissa was stunned. "Jon, are you angry? Even if you're mad, this is a bit extreme. If we get out now, the kids will worry."

Though Melissa also felt that Samuel had spoken out of turn, he was still Sierra's husband. They were a family now.

"Samuel, apologize to Jonathan," Melissa said. "And don't say things like that again. It upsets him."

Samuel took a deep breath. "Mom, I don't think I said anything wrong. But if you all think I'm in the wrong, then fine. I'll get out myself."

"Samuel." Sierra panicked. "It's just one comment. There's no need to blow it up

like this. Dad, don't be so harsh on him. He's just stressed and has been upset for

days. If anything, I'll apologize for him."

"Cee, I won't let anyone badmouth

Mr. Holden Jonathan said

seriously. "Melissa and I lived like ghosts all these years after losing you. We'd nearly given up hope Melissa almost lost her life. The medicine I gave Marcus wasn't even valuable. For someone who doesn't know herbs, it's worthless. I exchanged something insignificant to get you back. To us, Mr. Holden is a lifesaver.

"And one more thing." Jonathan turned his gaze to Samuel. "I've done my study on William and Charlotte They're not difficult people. In fact, they always help others when they can don't believe you bear no responsibility for the fact that they both flat-out refused and sent you away."

"Dad!" Samuel's voice suddenly turned loud. "So you think this is all my fault?"

"Isn't it?" Jonathan's voice was cold. "Don't raise your voice at me. That won't work. I feel sorry for my daughter, so I asked my wife to get out of the car with me. If I didn't care about Cee, the one getting out right now would be you."
