The lost heiress never forgiven

Oh Lost 490

Chapter 490 Reverse the Game

Back at the estate, Johnathan, Sierra, and Dickson had returned safely.

They had clearly overheard the entire conversation between Shane and Nate. Dickson was visibly shaken.

“Good thing we were prepared ahead of time otherwise…”

It was terrifying. They had actually come up with a method that twisted. And worst of all, they’d created a chip that could manipulate emotion.

If they had succeeded, what would his sister have become? A hollow shell with no feelings?

The very thought made Dickson’s skin crawl.

Sierra was equally shocked. They’d seen a chip implanted in Quinn before, but back then it had only been capable of unlocking brain potential. Now it could control emotions?

She didn’t even want to imagine the chaos it would unleash on the world.

What surprised her even more was learning that Shane had been involved in this.

When Johnathan told her, the first thing she said was that Shane couldn’t be trusted.

Shane had left too deep a mark on her.

And yet, in the end, they’d still chosen to work with him.

Now, she was grateful. If not for Shane, she might already have that chip in her brain.

“Where is the chip now?” she asked.

“Handled,” Johnathan said calmly.

He didn’t give details.

To prevent suspicion, they’d implanted the chip in a death row inmate. That had been part of the arrangement with Shane.

The chip would send constant feedback and receive commands. But since the brain was essentially dead, there were no emotional responses that was their way in.

It also gave them a chance to monitor the chip’s behavior.

Johnathan would be overseeing this operation in secret.

Since he didn’t elaborate, Sierra didn’t press further.

“If he starts sending me commands, I’ll follow them.”

“It won’t come to that.”

Johnathan wasn’t about to use Sierra as bait. He intended to speed things up.

That very night, he received word: their test subject’s personality had changed drastically. Someone he had been close to – he suddenly attacked. Meanwhile, toward someone who used to be his enemy, he became oddly friendly.

There was no need to ask. White had begun issuing commands.

After hearing all this, Sierra said only one thing.

“This is terrifying, Johnathan. Let me confront him.”

She looked him in the eyes.

“We can’t keep playing defense. If I don’t start acting different, he’ll grow suspicious. And we’ll be in even more danger. Johnathan, this is our turf. What are you afraid of? Even if he really tries to take me, you’re still here, aren’t you?”

She persuaded him.

They spent hours planning everything in secret.

The next day, Sierra took the initiative and called White.

When he saw her name on the screen, White’s mood instantly lifted.

All his work was finally paying off.

“Hello, Sierra. Alright, I’ll see you soon.”

They agreed to meet at the university lab. It didn’t take long for Sierra to arrive. She looked a little unwell. White pretended to be concerned..

“What’s wrong?”

Sierra forced a weak smile. “It’s nothing.”

White put on a thoughtful expression.

“You don’t look like it’s nothing. Aren’t we friends? Talk to me. What’s going on?”

Sierra hesitated a long time before speaking. noveldrama

“Johnathan is too controlling. It’s suffocating. I don’t even know how to explain it. It’s like… all of a sudden, I just find him so hard to be around.”

She looked down, her voice laced with pain.

“I know it’s wrong. I shouldn’t feel this way. But I can’t help it.”

Hearing that, White finally felt at ease.

He hadn’t expected the chip to be this effective. He’d only given one command yesterday, and Sierra was already showing signs of emotional detachment from Johnathan.

He offered soothing words.

“Professor Yaager really can be a bit overbearing sometimes. But like I’ve said before, Sierra you’re your own person. If you ever need help, I’ll be here. I’m your friend.”

Sierra paused, then shook her head.

“No, I’m fine. I was probably just in a bad mood yesterday.”

White didn’t push. He smiled and nodded.

“Right, you should talk things out with Professor Yaager. You two have such a strong relationship.”

He knew Sierra still had deep feelings for Johnathan. It wouldn’t shift overnight.

But he wasn’t in a rush. With daily suggestions, her relationship with Johnathan would eventually fall

apart.

Sierra didn’t want to dwell on personal matters.

“Let’s get to work.”

She dove into the research, and didn’t stop until lunch.

By then, her eyes were shining again

– the earlier gloom had completely vanished.
