The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Chapter 40

"Mrs. Grant?" Evelyn couldn't quite believe her ears.

She realized that the entire company had already acknowledged Tiffany's status.

Back then, when she had devoted herself wholeheartedly to Lucas, neither he nor the people around him had ever acknowledged her. They all assumed she was deliberately misleading people about their relationship.

He had been so careful to avoid giving people the slightest false impression, such that he never even spoke a word to her at the company.

But when it came to Tiffany, he personally made it official.

Evelyn didn't respond to Jacob's words. But Justine couldn't hold it in any longer and blurted, "But I heard Mr. Grant has been married for quite a while already?"

Jacob was momentarily stunned before replying, "That must be a rumor. Previously, there were claims that Ms. Moore was the third party, but Bluezen's PR department didn't handle it well. Mr. Grant personally stepped in to clarify, saying Ms. Moore was completely innocent. He publicly defended her. How could there be a wife?"

Wouldn't that be a slap in the face for his wife? How could he completely disregard his wife's existence?

So, it had to be nothing but a rumor.

Evelyn lowered her gaze. It turned out that Lucas had personally stepped forward

to clear Tiffany's name. He didn't want Tiffany to suffer even the slightest grievance.

But he allowed her, as the legitimate wife, to endure everything. He made sure that she swallowed her pain in silence.

He simply concluded that she had neither the right nor the courage to make a fuss.

Justine fumed. "Since Mr. Grant cherishes Ms. Moore so much, why aren't they married yet? Or is he simply incapable?"

Jacob chuckled. "I'm sure you can tell, right? Ms. Moore is a career-driven woman. She's not the type to just settle as a housewife. From what I heard, Ms. Moore has no plans to get married yet."noveldrama

Evelyn thought that made sense.

Lucas treasured Tiffany so much. If she had really wanted to get married, he would've settled everything quickly.

Instead, it was Evelyn who had to file for the divorce.

Justine looked at Evelyn with concern.

Evelyn gently squeezed Justine's hand in response. She calmly shook her head. "It doesn't matter anymore."

After all, the divorce papers were already signed. Once the final formalities were completed, she and Lucas would become strangers once again.

Even though Justine had the urge to publicly expose Tiffany as a homewrecker, she had to consider Evelyn's situation.

She scratched her head, completely losing interest in the inspection. "I'm going to get the car. Once you're done, just come out through the main entrance, and we'll go home."

She was afraid she'd get a heart attack if she stayed any longer.

Evelyn nodded, her expression cool and calm. "Alright."

Once the material selection was finalized, Jacob wanted Evelyn to stay and go over the details with Tiffany. But Evelyn excused herself, saying she had some work to do at the company.

As she waited for the elevator, the doors slid open, and she stepped forward. She was caught off guard by the sight of Lucas inside.

He stood tall and composed, his deep eyes landing on her for a brief moment before looking away without a word.

To any outsider, they didn't look like a couple at all. He had truly mastered the art of severing ties.

Evelyn didn't avoid him either. She calmly walked inside and stood behind him. She hadn't expected Lucas to come to TechNova Group.

But on second thought, Tiffany was here. So of course, he would be too.

Lucas didn't seem to have any intention of conversing with Evelyn. He was busy messaging on his phone.

As Evelyn glanced at the electronic display to see which floor they were on, she inadvertently caught a glimpse of his screen.

A WhatsApp message from someone saved as "BB" had popped up.

The message read, "Just a bit of a headache. No need to come over. Maybe I'm just worn out from staying up all night with you yesterday."

Evelyn quickly looked away.

How could she not understand that "BB" was some sort of code for "baby"?

And if he and Tiffany had stayed up all night together, what else could it mean?

Their relationship was clearly far more intimate than she had imagined. "Are you feeling better?"

Suddenly, Lucas put aside his phone and asked in a measured tone.

He was talking to Evelyn.

She felt a little surprised. Lucas had turned slightly to look at her. His eyes were devoid of emotion, as if he had just spoken to her in passing.

It appeared he still remembered that she had collapsed from a fever.

But the only reason he suddenly asked this was probably because Tiffany had

said she had a headache herself. It probably reminded him that Evelyn had also been sick.

While worrying about Tiffany, he just happened to ask about her as well.

At any other time, he had always been indifferent. Only Tiffany mattered to him, after all.

To Evelyn, his concern wasn't genuine at all. "I'm better now," she replied calmly. "Alright, that's good." Lucas sounded cool and distant, but this time, he looked at her a second longer.

He seemed a little surprised that Evelyn didn't use this opportunity to say more.

Lucas' gaze was unreserved, making Evelyn frown slightly. "Do you have anything else to say, Mr. Grant?"

"Not calling me 'honey' anymore?"
