The Reclaimed Rose (Annalise and Steven)

Upon hearing Cody inviting him to drop by again, Steven suddenly thought Cody was very intelligent, and he liked it.

"Sure," Steven said.

After dropping Cody off at the kindergarten, Steven drove to Willow's kindergarten. Just as I was about to get back into the car, he stopped me.

"Can we talk?" I knew that if I didn't give him the chance to talk, he would relentlessly disturb me until I was willing to talk. Not wanting to waste more time, I decided to get it over with.

"Sure. What do you want to talk about?"

Steven had many things to say, but when he saw me, he couldn't say a word. In the end, he blurted, "Lately, I can't stop thinking about our time together."

I found it interesting to see how regretful Steven seemed. I said, "If you loved me, you wouldn't have distanced yourself because of Jessica. In the end, the person you loved most was Jessica-you just didn't want to acknowledge that."

Steven quickly asked, "If I acknowledge that, would you still give me a chance?"

"No," I said emotionlessly.

"The outcome will be the same regardless of whether you acknowledge it. Anyway, I'm livinga new life now and it's been a while Since our divorce I think it's time for you to move on and think about your current state.

"If you continue to be fixated on me and not try to focus on your life with Jessica, she might leave you for somebody else, too. That way, you would be left with nothing."

With that, I got into Zane's car and left.

Steven was stunned. After a long time, he murmured, "Would Jessica abandon me, too?"

When Jessica returned, she came with Cody. In Steven's understanding, Jessica loved money. He believed that for as long as he had money, Jessica would choose him unconditionally. He never considered other possibilities.

But after he heard Annalise's words, he suddenly realized things weren't looking as positive as he thought they were.
