too late for a second chance novel (Lila and Dorian)

Chapter 490

"Let's talk when we get home." For the first time, Kieran cut Lila off. His gaze

remained fixed on the road, hands steady on the wheel, but his knitted brows and cold demeanor made it clear that he was upset.

Lila stole a glance at him from the corner of her eye. The chill surrounding him was unmistakable.

She rarely saw Kieran lose his temper, especially when it was just the two of them. In fact, she couldn't recall a time he ever had. But no matter how hard she thought about it, she couldn't figure out what she had done to upset him.

When they arrived, Kieran got out of the car, and Lila followed suit. What puzzled her even more was that if she had angered him, why was he still holding her hand? She looked down at her wrist, encased in his firm grip, confused.

As soon as they stepped inside, before she could even speak, Kieran spun around and pinned her against the wall. "Lila." His voice was low and cold, almost like he was accusing her.

Lila instinctively wrapped her arms around his waist. "Why are you upset?" Tilting her head slightly, she thought for a moment before asking, "Are you mad at me?"

Kieran pinched her waist in response, as if annoyed that he had been stewing over this for so long while she remained completely oblivious. He lowered his head and, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, bit her.

Lila winced at the sting and pushed him back just a little. But her eyes remained bright and clear as she looked up at him. "Is it because of that business card?"

If he didn't care, he wouldn't have gone out of his way to deliver the card to Stefan. But he couldn't have known what Faith had told her, or why she even had Faith's contact information in the first place. Still, a part of her was hopeful.

Before she could say anything else, Kieran leaned down, brushing his lips against hers. "Don't lie to me." Tilting her chin up, he forced her to meet his gaze. "You were thinking about giving me up, weren't you?"

Lila fell silent because, at one point, she had considered it.

"Mrs. Morgan, you sure are generous." Kieran's tone carried an undeniable note of grievance.

Her eyes widened slightly as

realization dawned on her. He wasn't mad that she had met with Faith in private. He was mad that she had entertained the idea of giving him up by keeping Faith's contact O

information.

A smile crept onto her lips as she rose on her toes and pressed a kiss to the corner of his mouth. Gently, she reassured him, "You're overthinking it. I haven't done anything."

Kieran arched his brow, surprised she could still argue when she was caught red-handed. "Lila, you were the one who insisted on us being in a relationship. And now you're the one thinking about giving up Do you know how hurt I am by this?"noveldrama

For a moment, Lila thought she had misheard him. Her eyes widened in shock as

she couldn't believe he had just said that.

Before she could explain, he continued, "Don't you think you should make it up to me?"

Lila tilted her head in thought before asking a question that slightly ruined the

mood. "Kieran, can you really handle the company's situation?"

He lowered his gaze and chuckled softly. "The company will be fine, just like you-you have no choice but to stay by my side. Mrs. Morgan, could you please have a little more faith in your husband?"

That word "husband" hit Lila right in the feels, and her face flamed. Kieran found her reaction utterly adorable. He was just about to lean in for another kiss when the door suddenly swung open.

Cindy, holding a basket of groceries, froze when she saw their intimate position. Then, she hurriedly apologized. "I'm sorry, Mr. Morgan! Please carry on! I'll leave you two alone."

Lila's face turned bright red as she whispered under her breath, "Let's talk about this later tonight!"
