Chapter 795

If Wayne had noticed Everly's weird actions sooner and if he hadn't compromised, Hera wouldn't have ended up this way!

"You should return and keep Mrs. Jones company." Bernard gave him a cold sideways glance. "Don't make her worried about Hera."

Hera had always cared deeply for Catherine. She would never want to worry Catherine.

Wayne shook his head because he didn't want to leave. He wanted to stay and make sure they found Hera back.

Aaron beckoned over a subordinate. "Send him back."

Thirty minutes later, Johnson arrived to tend to Bernard's wounds. It was a simple treatment, but it wasn't enough. "Bernie, you have a blood clot in your brain. We need to remove it in time before it presses against your nerves. Worst-case scenario, you might become paralyzed."

Bernard hummed in a perfunctory manner. He looked at his watch and asked Aaron, "It's been 36 minutes. Any news?"

Aaron was speechless.

Given the time, the rescue team hadn't even reached the bottom of the pit yet.

"No." He shook his head.

Bernard took in a deep breath and rested his head against the tree, absentmindedly caressing the canary diamond square cufflink on his sleeve.

He closed his eyes, and the scene of Hera falling through the helicopter window looped in his head.

It was his fault. He blamed himself.

Later, he asked, "Say, if I had held myself back a bit, wouldn't she be safe?"

Aaron recalled what happened back there. Hera happened to grab a grenade stored in the helicopter. If Bernard hadn't snatched it back from her, she would've been blown into pieces. "Bernie, you're overthinking. This isn't your fault."

The morning sun brightened the sky.

The search party searched for Hera overnight. They managed to find Everly's broken body by a rock and some helicopter shards, but not Hera's body.

"Keep searching. Don't stop until we find her!" Bernard's voice was hoarse.

Aaron drew in a deep breath after looking at photos of Everly's body.

Even Everly was ruined into such a state after falling from such high altitude. Even if Hera was lucky enough to fall into the sea, the impact from such a height would surely inflict damage to a certain degree.

Still, he kept his mouth shut. Since they hadn't found her body, there was still hope-no matter how faint it was.

"Split into two teams. Search the vicinity within a six-mile radius at the bottom of the cliff. Keep searching until we find her!" He ordered.

"Yes, sir!" responded the search party.

After the 72 hours of golden time, the search party had searched within the six-mile radius area, but there were no new findings.

In the camp on the cliff, Aaron was getting worried about Bernard. His condition was deteriorating.

"Bernie, you should follow Johnson back and get treated. Hera will never want you to ruin your health while waiting for her," Aaron urged.

Bernard hugged his head. It was either because of the pain from his injury or the mental torment, but he felt suffocated.

He barely got Hera back, but why did he lose her again in just one year?

Why?

He had done so much to protect her, but why did he lose her again?

Aaron sensed that something wasn't right. "Bernie? Bernie!"

Bernard's eyes were wide open, and he seemed to be in excruciating pain. It was that familiar scene and feeling again!

"Damn it! His condition is acting up again!" Johnson hurriedly took out a sedative while Aaron pinned Bernard down.

After the injection, Bernard, who had been awake for 72 hours, finally passed out.
