Chapter 262
Finn walked over and gave Dorian's shoulder a reassuring pat. "Inviting Jessica over was a bit much, you know. Elysia's got every right to be upset."
"She doesn't want to see you right now, so just give her some space. After the ceremony, you two can sit down and have a proper chat."
"What are you talking about, Finn?"
Dorian stared at him in disbelief. Finn was never one to mince his words or play the diplomat, yet here he was, talking sense and all. Had he turned over a new leaf?
Without answering, Finn simply tugged Dorian along.
Dorian glanced at the closed door, realizing there was nothing he could do at the moment. Letting Finn lead him, they headed to the groom's lounge.
About half an hour later, Elysia, now all dolled up, emerged from the bride's room with Amara. Finn and Dorian were already waiting outside. The four of them headed over to the reception area to toast with the guests.
Though Elysia was giving Dorian the cold shoulder, she was perfectly cordial with everyone else. The toasting went smoothly, signaling the end of the wedding festivities.noveldrama
Elysia and Dorian would head back to their new home, while Amara could finally return to her place.
As she stepped out of the hotel, Finn intercepted her. "I'll give you a ride home," he insisted.
"No need," Amara replied, shaking her head. "I can get back on my own."
"Let me take you. It's tough to catch a cab around here." Knowing she had taken
a cab to the wedding, he gently took her by the wrist and led her toward the parking area.
Amara followed for a few steps before stopping abruptly, biting her lip.
"Mr. Everly, I really can manage on my own," she said firmly, freeing her wrist from his grip. "But thanks for the offer."
With that, she turned and walked away.
Finn watched her retreating figure, frowning slightly.
"Why are you so against me?" He caught up with her in a few strides, trying to keep pace as they walked.
Amara didn't have the heart to directly admit it, but she couldn't deny it either. She just continued strolling towards the exit.
After last night's events, being around Finn was awkward, at least for her. Didn't he sense that? Why was he sticking around?
As they reached the entrance, Finn saw the determination in her eyes and decided not to push further. "It really is hard to get a cab from here. If you can't find one, give me a call. Or call Will. Don't push yourself too hard." .
He glanced at her one last time, concern etched on his face, before turning to leave.
Once Amara got home, she replayed the past couple of days in her mind, puzzled by Finn's strange behavior.
It seemed as if Finn genuinely liked her. He had even stood up to Dorian for her, which had caught her off guard. Yet, she couldn't fathom why Finn would harbor any real feelings for her.
After all, Finn seemed to have a significant part of his attention focused on Liliana. It was unlikely he could truly have feelings for her.
The more Amara thought about it,
the more she convinced herself that Finn must have confused
possessiveness with affection. That was the only explanation for his
repeated claims of liking her.
Deciding it was best not to dwell on things that were out of her control, Amara
resolved to focus on the present.
It was past nine in the evening now,
and about five or six hours since Elysia and Dorian had retreated to their new home. Surely, whatever was going to happen between them would have happened by now. Amara texted Elysia, "How's everything on your end?"
Almost immediately, Elysia replied, "All good here, no need to worry."
What do you think?
