Chapter 1220 Insincere Thanks
The middle-aged men around Elinor frowned slightly. Samuel continued to say, "Isn't it? Why would you stay around Elinor as if today's her birthday? Besides, if you are Uncle Quincy's friends, you should go and talk to him, aren't you?"
A group of middle-aged men could only echo. "Indeed, indeed."
"True, true. We noticed Elinor had grown up to be a beautiful lady, it's not a big deal."
Not a big deal.
Listening, Victor sneered beside the crowd. Those irresponsible men who wanted to slip away with the excuse of befriending with Quincy...if they were real friends of Quincy, would they try to approach his own daughter?
Bastard!
Elinor was pulled away from the crowd by Samuel, blushing because of drinking. She said after walking along with him for a while, looking down. "Thank you...for your help."
"There's nothing to be thankful for."
Samuel answered indifferently, "I knew what happened here at the first glance of those men around you. They wanted to take advantage of you. So I came and help you out on the way."
Elinor stopped, "Thank you."
"You can't be that passive. Learn to refuse. You can't endure everything simply because they are your father's friends. If they are true friends, they would respect your father and you. They wouldn't force you like that."
"You made a good point."
Elinor looked at Samuel, who smiled. "But if you have to thank me..."
Samuel pointed to Victor. "Don't thank me. Victor asked me to help you."
Victor?
Being pointed at, Victor squinted. What did he say? Didn't he promise he won't tell Elinor?
Elinor was surprised. "How...how did he think of...?"
"Maybe he doesn't want you to be ashamed of being force to drink so much on your father's birthday."
Samuel found a reasonable excuse, "That's why I came to help. If he comes to help you himself, wouldn't you be more embarrassed?"
It seems quite reasonable, but Elinor felt something was wrong.
How did Victor think of these?
She can't pretend that she didn't hear it. Watching Victor walking towards her, she softened her posture. After drinking, she blushed with a traditional sense of charming femininity. "Samuel just told me. Thank you."
"Thank me?" Victor sneered as if he heard a joke. "I don't need your thanks."
"Then what do you want?"
Elinor frowned. "But you did help me. Forget it. I won't talk about it."
"Tell me something that interests me." Victornoveldrama
smiled coldly, with nonet friendliness in his eyes. "If you get
sincerely want to thank me.
"You seem to be using my gratitude."
Elinor stood up straight, "So, I would take back my thanks. Indeed, you made me so miserable two years ago, and now you can't make up for anything by simply helping me
Anyway, I won't thank you since you don't need my thanks of no
