Please Give Me Another Chance Mrs Hamilton

Chapter 819

The dream felt so real, as if it had actually happened. Even the sensation on her hand felt real, as if Jack was truly there, watching her. Nadine couldn't tell whether she was dreaming or already awake. Her gaze lingered in the direction where Jack had vanished, and she called out wistfully, "Jack..."

The next thing she knew, she was jolted awake by a rough shove.

"Nadine, wake up!"

Nadine opened her eyes, her heart sinking as Brad's face came into focus. Then, it hit her she had called out Jack's name in her sleep.

Judging by the menacing look in his eyes, Brad must've heard her. Her pulse quickened, panic spreading through her chest like wildfire.

Nadine had no idea how to explain Jack's existence, nor did she feel obligated to explain anything to her ex-husband. Even though she had called out another man's name that day, it had nothing to do with Brad. They were already divorced. They owed each other nothing anymore.

Looking at the man glaring at her, she instantly felt wide awake, pulling the blanket up. Even though the blanket didn't move, the gesture made her feel safe. Nadine pulled the blanket up to her chest, but it did nothing to hide the anxiety she felt inside. She had no idea what to say.

Brad had been staring into her eyes, attempting to glean something-anything- from her gaze. But her eyes were like a frozen lake—deep, cold, and impenetrable. No matter how hard he looked, he couldn't see anything or figure out how she was feeling.

The name "Jack" was enough to pierce his heart. Had Brad come all this way with Sean just to let the boy see his mother? Of course not. He wanted to see her, too. He just wouldn't admit it, not even to himself. His pride wouldn't allow it.

"Nadine, you've really got some nerve. You're lying right next to me, yet you're thinking about another man? So that's what I was to you for six years? Just a replacement? Is that it?"

His last words came out in a roar that echoed through the room. His voice was so loud that her ears stung. Even Sean, who had been asleep, stirred and turned toward them.

Worried that he would wake, she gently patted his round little bottom and softly soothed him, "It's okay, baby. Go back to sleep. Mommy's here."

Once Sean was fast asleep again, she turned to Brad and said softly, "Please don't wake him." Tossing the blanket aside, she got ready to get out of bed.

It was then that she remembered-she'd fallen asleep on the couch. How had she ended up back on the bed? The answer was obvious. It had to be Brad's doing.

Before her feet even touched the ground, he grabbed her hand and pulled her back onto the bed. The force of it sent her sprawling onto the mattress, her weight making the bed sink deeply beneath her Her heart thudded painfully in her chest.

After falling onto the bed, Nadine noticed the predatory look in Brad's eyes and hurriedly sat up. "What are you doing? Sean's right here!" she hissed, looking at him fearfully.noveldrama

Worried about waking Sean, she kept her voice barely above a whisper. Her words, meant to sound firm, came out weak. Paired with the fear etched on her face, it almost seemed like she was pleading instead of warning him.

Brad had always been deeply

bothered by the notion that he might

have been a replacement for Jack.

He'd been hoping that one day Nadine would eventually realize her mistake and apologize to him.

As long as she apologized sincerely, he would forgive her and let the past go. But

this woman had no self-awareness, let alone a conscience.

Even now, lying beside him, she dared to call Jack's name. Did she really see him as nothing more than a replacement? Was that all Brad had ever been to Nadine?
