Chapter 252
Evelyn understood everything. Her eyes were blazing with pure fury. She knew she wasn't wrong-Dahlia, that venomous woman, had deliberately driven Rosa to her death. Faced with Dahlia's outrageous arrogance, Evelyn's mind went blank. She couldn't think straight anymore, and in that moment of rage, she grabbed a vase from beside her and hurled it at Dahlia's head.
"Dahlia, you vile woman, you won't have a peaceful death!" she shouted.
Dahlia immediately switched to a terrified expression, screaming, "Ah..."
Charles, catching the commotion, turned just in time to see Evelyn going at Dahlia with the same intensity as when she had attacked him. Instinctively, he pulled Dahlia into his arms and blocked the vase. It shattered at Evelyn's feet with a loud crash, scattering shards everywhere. A few pieces rebounded, slicing through Evelyn's thin pajama pants and leaving several cuts on her slender calves.
The noise snapped Charles' attention back to Evelyn. He watched as she stepped forward, seemingly oblivious to the shards beneath her. His heart skipped a beat. Letting go of Dahlia, he dashed towards Evelyn, shouting, "Don't move!"
But it was too late. Evelyn's bare foot had already landed on the shards. The sharp pieces pierced her skin, digging into her flesh, and blood quickly pooled around her feet. Yet, she seemed unfazed by the pain and stared at the shards on the ground. The blood red reflected in her eyes.
She wished those shards had hit Dahlia's major artery instead.
With bloodshot eyes, Evelyn bent down, snatching the largest shard from the floor. She gripped it tightly, and fueled by hatred and a thirst for vengeance, she sidestepped Charles and charged at Dahlia, who had settled back in her chair. Her intent was clear-slice through the artery in Dahlia's neck. She wanted Dahlia to pay for Charlie and Rosa with her life.
But with Charles there, Evelyn couldn't get close to Dahlia. Before she could reach her, Charles grabbed her wrist. His eyes shifted from the bloody trail on the floor to Evelyn's wild expression, and he sternly called out, "Evelyn!"
He tried to reach her rational side, to calm her down. But Evelyn wasn't listening. Her eyes were still fixed on Dahlia and filled with a desire to tear her apart. If he let his guard down even for a second, Evelyn would indeed cut through Dahlia's artery.
Charles had to forcibly remove the shard from Evelyn's grip and toss it aside. Then, he wrapped her tightly in his arms. Evelyn struggled hard, screaming, "Charles, let me go!"
But even with Charles not at his best, she couldn't break free. Her punches and kicks were in vain. Charles, holding her wrist with one hand and her waist with the other, kept her firmly pinned against him. He instructed the bodyguard at the door, "Call Dr. Nelson and tell him to come immediately."
It was obvious Evelyn had glass shards embedded in her wound. After giving the
order, he added, "Get Dahlia home safe and sound." He stressed "safe" as a warning.noveldrama
"Yes, Mr. Charles."
With Rosa gone, they had no choice but to follow Charles' orders.
"Charles..." Dahlia hesitated. She didn't want to leave Evelyn alone with him. She also wanted to continue provoking Evelyn and relish the sight of Evelyn wanting to kill her but being utterly helpless.
But...
"Go rest." His firm words left no room for argument, and Dahlia reluctantly followed the bodyguard.
Evelyn watched Dahlia, the
murderer, walk away unharmed yet
again after Rosa's death. She tried t
desperately to break free from
Charles' hold, but his grip was foo strong. All she could do was watch Dahlia leave.
Evelyn felt like her heart was being ripped apart. She hit Charles' chest and suddenly grabbed his collar. "Charles, you're worse than an animal!"
