The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret

Chapter 451 Betrayal and Desperation

Freya gradually calmed down from her fear. The sudden appearance of that young man had nearly driven her to madness.

"Thank you!"

Sawyer chuckled, "Aren't you curious how I found you?"

Freya rubbed her stiff face. If it hadn't been for Sawyer, she wouldn't have escaped that secluded alley alive. She would have been crushed by that car that suddenly appeared.

Now, thinking back, she realized the car had been specially modified. It was impossible to see who was inside from the outside, and the windshield was coated with some special material.

Freya took a deep breath. "How did you find me?"

Sawyer parked the car by the roadside, then turned to look at Freya, gesturing toward the passenger seat, "Come sit here so we can talk properly. Otherwise, I feel like I'm going to strain my neck."noveldrama

Talking in their current positions was indeed awkward. Freya steadied herself, opened the door, walked around the car, and sat in the passenger seat.

Sawyer placed both hands on the steering wheel, his brows slightly furrowed. "Let me show you something."

He played a video that Hudson had sent and handed it to Freya.

Freya was likewise intrigued by Sawyer's frailty up until the point where Sawyer was made to bow before Nathaniel.

She looked at the video, and her face changed instantly.

Sawyer had told her about his mother's situation and how the Lloyds had driven her to madness. In the video, Hudson was seen half-kneeling beside Sawyer's mother, smiling and talking. His waist was visibly bulging, indicating he was carrying a weapon.

The scene looked warm, but it was chilling upon deeper thought.

Nathaniel had quickly discovered Sawyer's weakness and had nearly killed his mother.

Sawyer smiled, but his eyes grew colder. "Intentionally followed you and Nathaniel to the parking lot.. even considered killing Nathaniel right there. For you, for me, that would be a relief."

Freya's heart skipped a beat.

Sawyer let out a bitter laugh, "But I didn't dare. Nathaniel is strong not because he's incredibly skilled, but because he has a group of brothers willing to risk their lives for him."

"Even if I kill Nathaniel, Hudson will use his gun to blow my mother's brains out. Those people are desperate enough to do anything. I'm sure you've seen that yourself."

Freya lowered her head, unsure of what to say. She had witnessed their brutality, danger, and faked affection.

Sawyer took a deep breath and turned to Freya, who was sitting next to him. "I saw you storm out of Nathaniel's car. Did you and Nathaniel have an argument?"

"Yes," Freya said, gazing out at the night view of Pontenero from the car window, feeling detached.

Sawyer asked softly, "How severe was the argument?"

Freya found it ironic. Their argument was caused by Sawyer's interference, and now he was inquiring about its severity.

"To the point of divorce, and it's all because of you. Are you happy now, Sawyer?" Freya fixed her gaze on him. "From when you secretly took control of Vault Corp. and became its leader to your performative act at tonight's event-was it all

intentional?"

Sawyer felt a surge of anxiety. He knew Freya was no longer the same as she was three years ago-more cautious and perceptive. Every lie he told was likely to be uncovered.

After a pause, Sawyer said, "Yes, it was deliberate, because I..."

"Sawyer, I need to get out now," Freya cut him off, feeling overwhelmed.

There were always someone who complicated her life, and she wondered what she had done to deserve this.

Compared to Sawyer's deceit, Nathaniel's unyielding suspicion was even more disheartening.
