Chapter 458 Taylor's Determination
Taylor stopped, his sharp gaze narrowing in irritation. That kid was impressive!
The trick the boy had used was reminiscent of tactics Taylor and Nathaniel had encountered during their street days. As he watched the boy's retreat, Taylor felt a momentary jolt of disorientation, as if he were back in the days of hustling alongside Nathaniel.
He couldn't afford to linger on these memories, as they brought up too much pain. It was almost unbearable to think about.
It was inconceivable that Nathaniel, the person Taylor had once respected and relied on the most, had ended up killing his own sister. The fact that Abigail was at fault in the situation only made it harder for Taylor to find someone to blame.
Unable to hold anyone else responsible, Taylor turned his anger inward. He had been carrying around his sister's ashes as a form of self-punishment, resulting in the Hill family only erecting an empty monument at her grave.
Taylor found it odd that the Hill family, particularly Michael, seemed rather indifferent to Abigail's death. Even though Taylor had stolen Abigail's ashes, Michael appeared more concerned with Abigail's belongings and the safes she had opened rather than her actual remains.
Taylor speculated that Michael might not have been biologically related to Abigail, which could explain his apparent detachment from her death while showing more interest in her possessions.
Taylor had no intention of contesting Abigail's inheritance with Michael. After all, Michael had raised her for over twenty years, and Taylor had never publicly acknowledged his relationship with her.
Acknowledging that some opportunities were lost forever, Taylor resigned himself to the reality of his situation.
Yet the encounter with the young thief reignited a sense of determination within him. He maneuvered through the crowd and darted into a nearby alley.
With his extensive street experience, Taylor was far more skilled than the boy. As he advanced through the alley, he managed to corner the young thief.
The boy, his face smeared with blood from what might have been a scrape during his frantic run, was about to search Mandy's bag for cash or valuables when he spotted Taylor.
The boy's face went pale with fear. Realizing that Taylor was still on his trail, he panicked, understanding that he couldn't escape this relentless pursuer.
In a desperate move, the boy hurled Mandy's bag towards Taylor and sprinted further down the alley.
Taylor quickly picked up the bag, but the delay gave the boy a head start. Despite Taylor's best efforts, the boy was fast, and Taylor, holding the bag, continued to chase him.
The alleyway opened into a narrow passage, a remnant of the city's construction. Taylor was almost within reach of the boy, but the kid was too agile. He ducked and
squeezed into the tight space of the
passage.
Taylor, momentarily stunned, realized that his tall frame wouldn't fit into such a narrow space. He watched in frustration as the boy disappeared into the passage.
Cursing under his breath, Taylor kicked the wall and scanned his surroundings, determined to find a way to catch the elusive thief. He was resolute, convinced he would eventually capture the boy
Eventually, Taylor made his way back to the square outside the church, carrying Mandy's bag. Mandy, who had been anxiously waiting, clutched his bag tightly.
Feeling stranded and unsure of hernoveldrama
next steps, Mandy had watched as both the thief and the man pursuing him vanished. With no one else n around, she had been on the brink of calling the police but hesitated due to the potential complications.
Just as Mandy's worry was reaching its peak, Taylor reappeared with her bag in
hand.
