Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 825

Chapter 825:

“Bye, Mr. Hayes.”noveldrama

“See you.”

“Hadley…” Elissa’s voice broke the silence as she reached for Hadley’s arm once Zane had gone. She had stayed quiet through the exchange, but she had pieced together the gist of it. “Are you leaving Srixby?”

“Yes,” Hadley admitted, her tone steady and honest. She had no reason to keep it from Elissa. “Once everything’s squared away, I’ll be on my way.”

“What about Mr. Flynn?” Elissa’s brow furrowed in confusion. “Aren’t things going swimmingly between you two?”

Hadley smiled gently, easing Elissa to her feet. “I’ll fill you in on the walk.”

Their conversation flowed as they made their way back to Redmarsh. After hearing Hadley’s reasoning, Elissa gripped her hand tightly, her voice soft but firm. “Hadley, just listen to your heart.”

“I will.” Hadley smiled, gently squeezing her friend’s hand.

“Oh, look who’s back,” Robin drawled as they stepped out of the elevator. He leaned against the apartment door, a cigarette dangling lazily from his lips, his eyes narrowing at Elissa with a smirk dripping in sarcasm. “What, still kicking? I figured I would be attending your funeral by now!”

“Robin,” Elissa murmured, her sight stolen from her, yet Robin’s voice rang clear as a bell. Her nerves got the better of her, and she clung to Hadley’s arm like a lifeline, ducking behind her friend for protection.

It was Robin, after all, who had snuffed out her light.

Hadley squeezed Elissa’s hand with fierce determination, stepping forward like a shield and fixing Robin with an icy stare. “What are you doing here? Haven’t you already turned Elissa’s world upside down? You’ve robbed her of her sight! Are you hell-bent on pushing her over the edge?”

“What?” Robin faltered, a shadow of some fleeting, unreadable emotion flickering in his gaze.

Elissa, blind?

“Are you serious? She’s blind? Let me take a look…” He reached out, intent on drawing Elissa closer.

“NO!” Elissa shrank back, terror rippling through her. “Keep your hands off me!”

Her rejection lit a fuse in Robin, his eyes blazing with fury. “Keep my hands off you? Elissa, have you forgotten? As your husband, I’ve got every right to lay a finger on you!”

With pinpoint precision, he seized Elissa’s wrist and tugged her toward him with a force that brooked no argument. “Come here!”

“Ah!” Elissa stumbled into his grasp, quaking like a leaf. “Let me go, please! Just let me go!”

“Robin!” Hadley lunged to pull her friend free, but her efforts fell short, panic tightening its grip on her. “What do you want from her?”

“That’s none of your concern!” Robin shot Hadley a frosty glance, mindful that she was with Eric, and he tread carefully not to cross that line. “Mrs. Flynn, this is a private affair between me and Elissa. I would suggest you steer clear!”

With that, he hooked an arm around Elissa’s waist, hoisting her off her feet. “You’re coming with me!”

Elissa trembled in panic. “NO! Where are you dragging me off to?”

“Robin! Stop this!” Hadley shouted helplessly.

But her pleas were like whispers in a storm.
