Under the Heiress' Facade



Chapter 801

She was Brenda Paulson, the head of the Commercial Department at Future Tech. Behind her and Vanta was a woman with a pixie haircut. She was Margaret Hemsley, Hera's assistant at work.

Margaret looked at Hera apologetically, as if she was trying to apologize for not informing her of their arrival.

"Since you're here, there's no need for me to drop by later, then. This is a project summary of the First-Generation Household Robot. Aside from that, I plan to take a break for some time," Hera said in fluent Terranish while handing the project summary and her leave application to Vanta.

Vanta gazed at the duration of her leave application. "Three months is quite long. Where are you going for your vacation?"

"I'm returning to Jadonia," Hera answered honestly.

"Jadonia sounds good. That's where you're from, so you should visit," Vanta replied. He took out a pen from the pocket of his suit jacket and signed the leave application in a flourish.

"What a coincidence. I'm planning to take a vacation as well. Since you're heading to Jadonia, please go to XS Corporation on my behalf and discuss the collaboration for the new chips.

"You designed the robot, so you'll definitely do a better job than I would when it comes to discussing the chips." Brenda ran her fingers through her curly hair, looking very charming. "Are you assigning me work?" Hera cast a sideway glance at Brenda.

From what Hera knew, the Commercial Department hadn't been able to work out a contract with XS Corporation.

The Agrecia version of robots that were released were still using Future Tech's first- generation chips. Moreover, the operating system wasn't the same as XS Corporation's operating system, which was commonly used around Agrecia.

As the systems couldn't connect seamlessly, Future Tech's shareholders were eager to work out a contract with XS Corporation. That way, the company could use XS Corporation's chips to break into the Agrecian market.

If Brenda was still in the mood to go on holiday now, she clearly wasn't affected by the company's urgency to secure the contract.

Moreover, Brenda was on the same level as Hera. Vanta was Hera's sole superior at Future Tech, and she only accepted work from him.

"Look at that, Mr. Whitlock. You're the only one who can order Esther around." Brenda shot a glance at Vanta with a shrug of her shoulders.

Vanta cleared his throat. "Esther, you have a better understanding of chip development than Brenda, so it's better for you to work out a collaboration with XS Corporation. I'll try to give you as much leeway as possible for the contract terms."

Since Vanta had spoken, Hera had no reason to refuse. "Sure."

One, Vanta was her superior. Two, he was her savior.

"Thanks. If you're able to secure the contract, I'll definitely share some of the Commercial Department's bonuses with you.

"Don't worry, I'll help keep an eye on your Technology Department when you're not around, "Brenda said while taking the project summary from Vanta. She held it in her arms and shot a smug look at Hera.

Instead, Hera looked expressionlessly at the project summary in Brenda's arms.

"I still have a meeting, so I'll take my leave first." Vanta glanced at his watch. Before walking out of the office, he looked back and said, "Remember to let me know when you're flying. I'll drop you off at the airport."noveldrama

Hera did not respond to him.

"Mr. Whitlock is being so unfair. Securing the contract is clearly Brenda's job. Yet the Commercial Department is leaving you to handle the collaboration that they've failed to secure. If you can't close the deal, the shareholders will merely assume that you aren't efficient in your work."

As soon as the door closed, Margaret began to voice out her dissatisfaction at Hera's treatment.

"Furthermore, First-Generation Household Robot is your blood, sweat, and tears. Brenda took it away just like that, and Mr. Whitlock didn't even tell her off. Brenda does this every time as she only knows how to use her looks to climb up the ranks.

"It's fine. No need to be angry. Pack up your things and get ready to leave for Jadonia." Hera calmly patted Margaret on the shoulder.

If Brenda planned on taking credit for Hera's work, she'd better prove herself capable.
