Chapter 280
"Evelyn, you love Charlie so much, don't you? Can you really just leave her down there all by herself? Aren't you worried about her being all vulnerable and possibly getting pushed around?"
"Go on, be with her. You can't avenge her anyway. Why suffer here when you could join her? In death, there's peace, no more pain. You can be with your Charlie again."
Dahlia watched as Evelyn crumbled under the weight of her words.
Evelyn was on her knees, despair etched into her every feature. She looked utterly defeated, like she had no fight left in her.
She looked lifeless.
She wouldn't last the day.
Dahlia's lips curled into a cruel smile.
As she was about to leave, she paused in front of Evelyn, throwing her a
disdainful glance.
So fragile.
Just a dead daughter, and she's drowning in depression.
Even fate seemed to be on my side.
If Evelyn hadn't been so broken, getting rid of her would have been much tougher.
Dahlia casually flicked her hair back, ready to walk away.noveldrama
Unexpectedly, Evelyn stood up.
Her eyes blazed with fury as she faced Dahlia, raising a hand to shove her. "Dahlia, go to hell!"
The push carried all of Evelyn's pent-up hatred.
She wanted Dahlia gone.
Dahlia didn't see it coming. She stumbled backward in her high heels on the uneven ground.
She was near the edge of a hill.
A fall could be disastrous.
Panicked, Dahlia flailed her arms, trying to regain her balance.
Just when she steadied herself, her heel struck something.
Looking down instinctively, she saw Charlie's urn.
The impact knocked her off balance again, and she inadvertently tipped the urn
over.
Pain shot through her ankle as it was struck by the edge.
"Ah-"
With a terrified scream, Dahlia felt herself teetering backward.
True fear gripped her.
A fall from here could mean death or worse.
Seeing Evelyn rushing to the urn, Dahlia
weached out, hoping to grane
Evelyn for support.

Her hand brushed Evelyn's, and hope flickered in Dahlia's eyes.
But before she could grasp Evelyn's hand, Evelyn pulled away.
Dahlia's hand grasped nothing but air.
Her eyes widened in horror as she plummeted down.
Evelyn didn't watch Dahlia fall.
Instead, she fell to her knees with a thud.
The urn had spilled its contents.
Charlie's ashes were scattered across the ground.
Tears streamed down Evelyn's face as she trembled, trying to scoop them up.
"Charlie..."
Just as she gathered some ashes to return to the urn, a sudden breeze swept through.
The ashes in her hands, along with those on the ground, were carried away by the wind.
"No!!"
Evelyn stayed kneeling, watching helplessly as Charlie's ashes disappeared into the air, her cries
filled with unbearable agonyve

Clutching the now-empty urn, she broke into heart-wrenching sobs.
After what felt like ages, Evelyn rose unsteadily.
The tears
dried by the cold wind, leaving only a bleak and desolate look.

She walked numbly to where her phone had fallen, bending down to pick it up.
Her frozen fingers swiped gently across the screen.
Opening her contacts.
Scrolling up and down, searching over and over, but Charles was nowhere to be found.
