Chapter 809

XS Corporation took over Killian Corporation five years ago. All the Killians were kicked out of the company. None of them held any power within the Killian residence, especially Chad, the former head of the family.

Although Bernard did not kick Chad out, keeping him at the Killian residence was almost the equivalent of being under house arrest.

Bernard was a clean freak. If he saw how filthy Giselle's dress was, he would never allow her within six feet of him.

"Are you blind?" Giselle hissed before kicking Dora in anger. "I specially had this dress custom-made by a top designer! It's the only one in this world. Can you even afford to pay for it?"

Although the server nearby wanted to come over and help, she dared not to do so. She had clearly seen Giselle bump into Dora first before kicking her aside. However, the server dared not to tell the truth since she couldn't afford to offend Giselle, Bernard's niece.

As Dora backed away, she accidentally pressed her hand on a piece of glass shard. It hurt her so much that tears began to fill her eyes. Upon learning that the dress was custom-made, she was certain that Hera couldn't afford to pay it back since she was so poor.

Dora had caused trouble for Hera. Even if Hera sold Dora off, that wasn't enough to pay off such an expensive dress.

Dora apologized, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do it."

Giselle retorted, "If an apology was of any use, why does the world need—"

"What's going on?" Bernard suddenly interrupted Giselle sternly. He appeared behind her, looking as aloof as ever.

Hearing him made Giselle's heart skip a beat. She then forced a smile immediately. "Little girl, are you alright?"

She then turned to look at Bernard. "Uncle Bernard, you're here."

While speaking, she wanted to step forward to greet him. However, he evaded her and glanced at Dora lying on the floor.

"Mr. Handsome!" Dora's eyes lit up at the sight of Bernard.

"Are you alright?" Bernard noticed the tears in Dora's eyes and her aggrieved expression. He didn't know why, but the sight of her tugged at his heartstrings.

He then saw that the side of her dress was stained red, and Dora had hidden her hands behind her back.

Dora shook her head. Giselle seemed to know Bernard, and Dora had no idea whether Bernard would ask her to pay back for Giselle's dress.

"Show me your hands," Bernard said.

Dora bent her head in tears, refusing to extend her hands.

Seeing that made Giselle jump to the conclusion that Dora had stolen something. If she really did take something that didn't belong to her, that was great news for Giselle.

She decided to take advantage by telling on Dora to Bernard, "Uncle Bernard, this little girl seems to have slippery fingers. She even ruined my custom-made dress."

Before Giselle could finish speaking, she watched Bernard squat in front of Dora and forcefully pull Dora's hands from behind her back. He saw a small cut on one of her palms caused by a shard from the broken plate. Blood kept oozing from the wound.

Initially, Dora was able to hold back her tears. However, the sight of her wound made the tears in her eyes stream down continuously.

"Does it hurt?" Bernard questioned.
